Me laughing because I don’t live in Australia

Wesley Snipes situation was much more egregious... from like 1997-1999 he filed fraud tax return demanding millions in refunds... and than rom 1999-2004 he didn’t pay any taxes at all (didn’t even file a tax return) using sovereign citizen arguments that the US government couldn’t tax him.

A quick Google search says

“And vaccines, and masks, and social isolation... nothing worked.”

All of that did work... the end goal of all of this was to reduce human injury and death and to do that we needed time. Masks and social distancing gave us time to understand how to treat severe COVID cases (where death rates was exceedingly high in

I don’t understand the mentality of a gambler who would bet on a game that is thousands of miles away, in a sport that is so unfamiliar that you couldn’t tell a professional athlete from a random person in a uniform.

I mean as an American, I barely understand cricket... but I know that person throwing (bowling?) ball

Who remembers that movie from the 70s that was on network TV periodically.

Jim Cramer graduated Harvard in 1977 so it was probably cheaper for him (and 2023 tuition for Harvard is probably over 50K/year.)

Peter Quill is the least funny member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, so it’s not a shock that the funniest person in the Thor movies will force him to play straight man.

I like how in this movie Thor has Starlord, (8-year old spoiler) the guy who defeated a Infinity Stone wielder with a dance-off, playing the straight-man with his weird made-up handshake ritual.

Reading the original Hollywood Reporter article, I noticed that Keanu Reeves says nothing in the article... it’s all his girlfriend/partner Alexandra Grant talking... that combined with him mocking crypto and NFT only a few months ago in a Matrix 4 interview (again linked in this article)... makes me think he was

“Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Starship Troopers begin Argentina, where the asteroids carrying the bugs landed?”

I’d like a movie from an American perspective in which alien contact is first made by a rival like China.

Probably not within an hour’s notice... and for free.

He and his buddies felt overworked last time and now they’re going up for more? Alright then, at least he’s willing to put in the grind, despite being a billionaire.

With respect to Annihilation, I’m not sure how fun Alex Garland is, but he’s remarkably intelligent and thoughtful, and comes up with interesting questions to ask. The best part of the Ex Machina DVD was a bonus feature where he’s talking as part of some panel, and after seeing that, I can totally get why an actor

Ha! Fair enough, but you get my point.

The obvious explanation is that Waititi made the new Thor movies look fun and so she became open to returning (but I’m sure their was a financial negotiation that could have gone wrong).

That’s a fair point... but as far as I can tell she went from being the main sidekick in Thor 1 and 2, to intentionally skipping all the quick/easy money cameos in MCU Phase 2, and skipping Thor 3 in Phase 3 (although it doesn’t feel like her character would have worked in that plot)... if you look at her

According to this, she got paid $1.2M, which isn’t that much more than what she gets paid for her usual films.

Or perhaps it was a dump truck of money. After all, she’s not made of stone.

Again, this I guess comes down to what you think of as an “achievement”.
