I actually was a huge Elon Musk skeptic in 2008-2011 from what I read on Gizmodo (I remember reading bad things about when back in the days of Valleywag), then I had a slightly less negative view 2012-2014, by 2017 I decided I was wrong about him in some ways. It’s now 2022, and I think that he’s been gradually losing

I honestly am not sure, besides being the public face of these initiatives, how much Musk is actually involved in spearheading them, or if he relies on his operations managers for this.

His day to day involvement with Tesla seems to be fostering a hostile work environment, union busting, and tanking the stock with dumb tweets.

With SpaceX I don’t actually know how much, if any, direct involvement he has, other than propositioning flight attendants for sex and settling for six figures.

I’m pro-SpaceX Elon Musk and mostly pro-Tesla Elon Musk (FSD beta is a an embarrassment)... but even I think Elon Musk needs to be taught a lesson that he can’t get away with blatantly stupid (and against the law) things like this. It’s like when a toddler is testing the boundaries of their parents discipline/control.

Or they know he won’t bother paying a team to go through it to prove whatever it is he’s trying to prove.

Now playing

That is a good point... I looked it up out of 17,000 Commanche tribal members only a few dozen speak it natively... and while I’m sure technically could try to have them all learn the entire dialogue in Comanche... it seems overkill for a sci-fi film and so it’s likely that it’s a dub... but who knows.

Also as a random

In addition to the Canadian productions that collex mentioned. I know that Norseman TV show (which I recommend) was filmed in both English and Norwegian.

I love how you throw out an ambiguous statement: ““Big car sale on Tuesday!” and then demonstrate how the French version is clearer - by using English.

And give me a break with French being more “precise” than English. English has about 40,000 more words than French does.

Looks faked. Check out the clouds - they are moving too fast.

I agree English is definitely the most widely spoken language in the world... but as my first post suggested, I think that is largely due to the fact the two dominant empires of the last two centuries with English speaking country (first Britain, then the US).

Maybe there’s a happy medium somewhere between 66 and 40,000 though.

Seems like if your country doesn’t have English as an official language, you learn English as a second language first.

Maybe if they just made them more powerful to begin with, they wouldn’t need so many.

I’m just saying, one of the reasons for English’s persistence is that we’ll just happily borrow words from other languages

almond groves down and solve part of the problem.”

I don’t see why we can have a progressive tier water use system like we do with electricity (or federal tax brackets)... where water jumps in price dramatically after you start exceeding the median household water usage (which appears to be 50 gals a day) where as the biggest water user in California used about 32,000

I really like the direction that Taika Waititi and his team have taken the character of Thor (and his part of the MCU) since Ragnarok

Chris Evans is 40. Hailee Steinfeld is 25 playing 20. They would absolutely be playing up the age difference, because that’s what you do when telling that kind of a mentor-mentee/passing-of-the-torch story.

There’s a more than decent chance they would’ve taken a near identical approach even if they’d cast someone much younger than Renner.
