I blame Johan de Nysschen. If he hadn’t bailed for Cadillac, leaving Carlos Gohsn in charge, we’d have this little beauty. Gohsn doesn’t give a shit about nice cars.

Nissan iDX Nismo and iDX Freeflow. Basically the new Datsun 510. It was pretty close to being greenlit for production, too. It was going to be small, RWD, with (possibly) a 1.6 turbo, with a manual. It still hurts to this day.

This makes my heart hurt, right in the spot where I did horrible things in my friend’s 510 growing up.

nissan IDx. a long, painful, and tumultuous history here. came after the toyobaru’s, was going to be a new ‘fun car war between toyobaru, mazda, and nissan. nissan teased us with it, overwhelming shouts of joy from enthusiasts, then they pulled the plug.
