What rpms are these turning at highway speed, ie 65-75?

I just got back from a road trip for which I rented a 2wd 2014 Suburban which still had the six-speed. Going out we averaged 19.7 MPG even with 6 people and cargo; the return half was 22 MPG with 7 people and cargo (more downhill sections than going out). The 1500 mile trip netted out at 20.6 MPG, and with the size of

I have a 4Runner with the 4.7 liter V8 and I can't touch 22mpg on the highway, so to be that much bigger of a vehicle with practically twice the hp those are pretty good numbers.

What are your fuel economy expectations for a roughly 3 ton vehicle DESIGNED to haul 7 people, tow 4 tons with ease, be off-road "capable", and have a 6 second 0-60 time?

People sacrifice $2,000 a year in fuel in order to have the things I just mentioned above. Don't knock full-size SUV's just for being full-size

So everyone should be forced to drive a Chevy Cruze? The vehicle you drive is a product of the environment you live in. Enviornment meaning geography, weather, line of work, family status - everything you surround yourself with. I drive an 09 Chevy Avalanche and from purely a weather standpoint, those of us in

Considering I owned a Volkswagen Super Beetle that got 25mpg on a good day, 22 out of something that big and powerful is simply a marvel of modern technology.

You sound kinda bitter possibly because a) you can't afford one b) maybe your ex wife left you for one of the aforementioned doctors/lawyers/ etc or c) all the above

Doesn't matter, past experience tells me that with my driving habits MPG will be 3 city and 6 hwy with an avg of 4 all day long, regardless of what you do to make it more efficient. I just love dipping into a V8 way too much.

As a guy who drives a 16.8mpg avg HD truck everywhere it doesn't take much to economically justify driving a behemoth 100% of the time. If your needs state that you need a reliable hauler for 4 people and gear 8-10 times per year then you're basically shopping <10 year old HD trucks with <120k ish miles. This

no one buys minivans anymore, they buy lifted minivans (CUV)... which are more useless than minivans off road (but, people still take their kids out in them)... ah well, my SAR SUV is ready for them (and yep, I get 10 mpg - betchawon'tbitch when I'm saving your stuck CUV).

Because small truck + big engine = fast. And fast is fun.

I had a Yukon XL for a week from work...BOSS level achieved. I didn't want to give it back.

I think 22 MPG isn't bad for a vehicle as luxurious and capable as a Yukon. I guess I'm biased toward the high-riding "truck experience" but they're wicked comfortable, fit all kinds of crap, and can do a fair bit of towing.

somehow they get better MPG than anything from nissan and toyota...... Look at the tundras MPG.....In the real world your lucky to get 17

look at the armada and sequioa and this is fuel sipping for full sized SUVs

true true. Depends how long we've been going That's the thing about cement, it doesn't stop setting just cause you're exhausted. Although in this case the concrete is also looking a bit "tired" hahahahaha....

Overtime here we come!

lol...I used to pour concrete. I would be pissed if this happened.

The evidence is there, and the verdict is set in stone.
