The 2023 equivalent of having a mate who does cocaine.

Counterpoint: Accepting that language evolves does not mean we have to like and accept every single new term that falls into common or semi-common use among certain groups in the population. Words appear and disappear, slang terms rise in use and then fall just as quickly, but some of them stick around and become part

The most annoying thing in the world right now is being in the same room as someone who is scrolling through a different TikTok video every 4.7 seconds and hearing the same three songs over inane yammering.

My old man opinion is that this generation has been coming up with slang that is consistently dumber and less useful than what it’s trying to replace.

I really don’t get Tik Tok. Don’t get the appeal of a thousand different people doing the same damn 20 seconds of dancing.  I guess some of them are attractive and that helps but, like, the internet has pornography

Maybe, but it’s certainly having quite a renaissance in Gen Z spaces. Besides, unless you have some evidence of some queer from yesteryear using “Thatchussy” to refer to Margaret Thatcher, the first recorded use of bussy has minimal importance here.

Typically a suffix is something added to the end of a word to change its meaning, not a word unto itself. And when two words are eventually combined to make a single word, then they could be Word of the Year. It’s just as possible they’ll remain separate words.

Mang, Gen Z lingo is wack, fo shizzle.

Wait till Gary Busey had anything to say about it.

I am entirely unfamiliar with this -ussy usage.
I’m pretty sure I’m ok with that.
... Yup... just fine.

Other than “bussy” (and I only came across that playing Lewdle), I have managed to avoid this, and now that it has been officially recognized, that means it’s officially lame, and will no longer be spoken by anyone. Ted Cruz will be the only one lame enough to use it now, and that will only be on his Twitter,  but I

Not the Hank I was expecting.

“Better Thank Hank”

There’s been a few mentions in Newswire articles and those end-of-2022 roundtable things recently about being sick of a certain kind of discourse or whatever and they all have huge, HUGE “we’re all trying to find the guy who did this” energy.

I like Colin.

The guy I went to for most of my car stuff in the early 2000s owned his own mechanic shop. When he retired he left the business to his son, which absolutely pissed me off. I was like... DUDE, haven’t you heard of nepotism? He went on to explain that it was a family business, that he had been teaching his son to work

This is all so stupid. Yes, of course nepotism can be bad. But in the grand scheme of things, is Hollywood nepotism that big of a deal? It’s one thing if you were born to billionaire parents and inherit their money and spend your life being a worthless charlatan. But going into movies because your parents did? Who

“...the conversation on nepotism in Hollywood and so-called “nepo babies” is far from over.”

Have you guys met struggling actors/musicians who are trying to be discovered? They’re the worst.

This whole nepo uproar is so dumb. Jesus. Don’t people ever get tired of jockeying to see who can be the most personally offended by some dumb bullshit?
