There’s always certain white people who can’t understand people whose first language is Spanish can also be white. It’d be a fascinating case study in race if states weren’t rushing to make that stuff illegal in schools.

“I can tell you a number of shows or movies that are way more explicit with a lot more sexual content than Blonde.”

Hold on - let me go get a pen and paper.

I mean...Ted Cruz is a Blobfish so I don’t know if Human race/ethnicity/nationality really maps

The MPAA takes bad accents very seriously.

Blue is the Warmest color is the first time I have ever checked my watch during a lesbian sex scene. I half expected to see the title card Intermission during one of their bouts.

Merely being Cuban doesn’t make someone non-white. The Castro brothers are/were white. Ted Cruz & Marco Rubio are white. Per wikipedia, Ana’s grandparents migrated to Cuba from Spain (hence her having Spanish citizenship).

I just don’t get why it’s NC-17. Like, how much nudity or graphic sex do we actually see? How long does it even last? And when exactly does it happen in the runtime of the film, and are there timestamps? I just don’t get it.

Yes. I can’t imagine a quicker way to get Congress to agree to extend copyrights indefinitely than to start turning beloved children’s characters into evil psychopaths.

Pooh wasn’t a real bear, he was a cuddly little cubby all stuffed with fluff.

Can’t believe these people are gonna make me pro-copyright law

Agree. While I wasn’t a huge fan of “Luke the coward who runs away” in TFA, at least Johnson did his darn best to justify that decision and give him a lovely arc.

Absolutely! And the idea that more people with a connection to the force will continue to be born was also a great touch. My cynical little heart grew two sizes when the kid grabbed the broom!

But what is contemptuous about that?

The funny thing is that in every one of your examples, the franchise in question has released an installment that does, in fact, change the primary characters’ motivations and try to undermine the franchise status quo. Bond *repeatedly* goes rogue and quits Her Majesty’s Secret Service in disgust, like to the point

The Venn diagram of toxic fanbois and white racists is nearly a circle.

Right?? Dude is like “what if characters changed and grew in different ways?”

Batten down the hatches—we’re starting to feel another round of The Last Jedi discourse coming on.

I liked Last Jedi

The movie’s not perfect, but it was literally breathtaking for me since, for the first time since Empire Strikes Back, I had no idea where any individual scene or the overall movie was going. After decades of predictable storytelling, Johnson flipped over the table and did new and exciting stuff.

I’m just here to read the salty tears of so called fans who still haven’t gotten over this movie in 5 years.
