It’s not over the top challenge. They haven’t been marketing it as difficult, this move is a thematic choice based on the story/plot, not based on gameplay.

I haven’t seen a single review where the person actually lost their save though. Including one reviewer who really struggled, dying 18 times to the first boss and frequently throughout. It seems this is more for tension and, if it actually happens, you’d have to be nearly trying to have it happen.

I think it really is a more philosophical split. Gate Skip cuts out an entire section from the run involving Child Link. The effect of the trick is just as drastic as a hypothetical clip through the gate itself.

Somedays I wish that video games weren’t so outlandish. For example, why can’t Bioshock be real. Oversumo is a stat tracking app more than anything else. but stats in Overwatch don’t really translate into a good game or improving your play.
