I always forget that Lincoln exists in these conversations, despite that potentially being the best answer.

I love it, but I can’t get past the clutch-based transfer-case. I understand these modern trucks have systems in place to prevent damage, but losing 4wd in the middle of a difficult obstacle is annoying at best, unsafe at worst.

This certainly wasn’t the most interesting thought experiment but I did learn some things; I wasn’t aware that the Defender was available as a hybrid, and I didn’t realize that a hybrid Cayenne was actually somewhat reasonably priced (for a luxury SUV).

You never, ever take an oversize load over a railroad track unless you have adequate space on the other side to get clear. If necessary you ask law enforcement to stop traffic so you can cross or turn onto a road to gain the necessary clearance. The trucking company is in a world of hurt.

I feel like if you are moving something like that you need to coordinate with the railroad if a crossing is unavoidable.
