I’m sick of black being used as an accent for *everything* in general. I tried build a new Nissan Z on the website, and all of the fun colors were locked to a black roof. Let me paint the whole car, dammit!

This is NP for someone, the $12,500 question is if they can find that someone.
Yikes, some critical problems with what’s going on here:
Did all suburbans of that era have 4.11 gears? That thing could probably tow a 40' boat without overheating.
Right, and OP of this thread had the most relevant application of this principle. What matters is I don’t think there’s anything on sale today that needs the motor turning at over 3000rpm to keep up with traffic.
Did somebody ever prove it was fake? That bit was an absurd edge case to prove a point in bad faith. I would be surprised if the result wasn’t real, though.
My first car was a 2001 Chevy Tahoe, that when I got it via hand-me-down, was 10+ years old and had about 120k miles on it. My mileage from short trips to high school and sports/extracurriculars was usually 13-14MPG, at least based on doing the math myself by resetting the trip computer at every fill up.
One of the funniest things about modern Cadillac is that of all the crap they have tried from a naming convention standpoint over the last 25 years, nobody has ever dared touch the moniker of the big dumb BOF SUV.
I bet if you accumulated enough examples, you could come up with a pretty consistent dollar-per-weight cost they get from their shippers. Destination charge being broken out on the sticker is a fun little novelty with good insight.
See below. You don’t have to read the whole thing, just the updated portion from July 2019 documenting that the Ford engineers knew this thing was gonna be a problem 2 years before it went on sale.
Tom is on the right track, as this is a boring yet obvious answer: If reliable mild luxury is what you are about, get however much used Acura/Lexus you are comfortable with paying. I just went to cars.com and set filters for Lexus, <$30k , and <50k miles and yeah, there’s a lot of variety.
The worst thing is these are otherwise very intelligent people! They are successful accountants who just walk onto the same used lot and drive out the cheapest thing the meets their needs, and shit like this happens! A few years ago one of them bought a 2 year old Sentra and the battery crapped out like a year into…
And for those wondering: No, the transmission had not been replaced yet. It crapped out like a month after they bought it. I told them they don’t have to run *every* car decision they make past me. They just need to at least google it and see if there was a class action lawsuit.
Shut up!!! They just need MOAR equipment that most governments only give to their military!!!!1111!!1111!11!!!one!!11!!1
I get yelled at for proposing roughly this same theory all the time: You want better policing? Cut the police force in half, leave the payroll the same. See who shows up for the job.
Similarly, I really hope to own a big floaty american barge from the 70's someday.
Whoops, fair point. Although that kinda takes my whole screed and makes it worse. They bought the company to get in on a “fad”, and then closed it down when it was over.
IMO while the slack memo was tone-deaf, the actual malicious act here is that Cruise was probably a spinoff of GM just for the sake of a stock market bump. They saw the boon of AV development not for the results, but for the publicity of saying you are doing it, and this as a way to cash in. When that bubble pops, or…
That sounds like a great deal. How hard did you have to shop for the <$39k number? Lowest sticker I’ve seen is a hair under $43k.
