I went to the Chicago Auto Show on Tuesday with a friend of mine. The Blazer EV was something we took our time to look at, and we found it quite nice! Then came the fun part:

There’s got be some goofy compliance thing going on here. While these might make sense in Japan where the the national government is throwing their weight behind HFCV’s, there’s no economical reason to bring them here.

100x this. I don’t know if the big manufactures literally can’t make money on cheap EV’s, but they definitely can’t make enough money to keep the shareholders happy when they’re used to the margins on an F-150 King Ranch.

That last picture really sells it. These things might not literally turn orange in 6 months, but there is clearly already texture issues that normally don’t arise on normal cars until at least a decade of mother nature pounding on it.
