Toyota famously has a really weird (bad) allocation process. It tends to hamstring anything new, and creates negative feedback loops for anything other than the most popular products.
Early submission for comment of the year.
Bob Lutz is a treasure in a weird way. He’s pretty much the definition of a blowhard, but is so in a way that points out actual dumb things about the industry in general (even if he has a hand in those dumb things).
And they were right to do it!
In hindsight, it was genuinely hilarious how the US manufacturers handled emissions regulations in the 70's. They seriously would rather make a big displacement motor as weak as possible than make a not-terrible small engine.

it may have come at the 59th minute of the 11th hour, but this is comment of the year right here
Bradley, I’m curious: While you didn’t need any major fixes in ownership, are you aware of anyone having difficulty getting parts for these? While a rebadged Opel may not be as much as a handful to keep running as any of the remaining Saab’s, I can’t imagine most dealers or independent mechanics will be that…
There really was this one shining moment in 2018-20 where the legacy American luxury companies all had something novel in the TourX, Lincoln Conti, and Caddy CT6. If I was shopping for my next car right now, I’d be all over any of these if it were CPO. But I probably won’t be in the market until the newest examples…
I don’t know why Buick is so popular in China, but there’s a nonzero chance that axing the brand in the US might have some sort of negative impact on it’s clout over there. I’m convinced this is big reason why it’s still here, even if it’s just to sell global rebadged GM global products.
Yes, but not every big dude looks like some backwoods hilljack.
seriously, what the hell is going on here. every time i look it’s like hearing nails on a chalkboard.
I agree with the sentiment, but I wouldn’t go so far to call it “the beauty of market.” Rather, it’s just least bad of all the other options.
I can sort of get Travis, but there’s an obsession with the other Kelce brother too and I absolutely cannot wrap my head around it. That guy looks like he fell off of a truck carrying pig feed somewhere in rural Saskatchewan.
Ram’s performance is truly more spectacular when you consider they basically only have 2 models: A full size pickup, and a commercial van.
At that point you could be forgiven for just thanking the office, telling him to have a nice day, and driving away.
Car in front have a green light but not paying attention? A quick toot to politely say “Go, you fucking idiot” without pissing anyone off
Just you wait: somehow this will get twisted into “liberals not letting the police do their JERB.”
Yeah, this doesn’t really do anything about the preexisting problem:
