Well, the main point of the show was to mock and ridicule, and they did maintain a healthy ironic detachment, but it wasn't hard to tell that deep down, they really enjoyed reality tv.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they followed through on their idea to essentially re-do episodes when they drop off.
