The vast, vast majority of soy cultivated (and the soy responsible for clearcutting forests) is for animal feed for...meat animals.

The target market is meat-eaters who they can shift to a more environmentally friendly alternative.

“If you have the option of getting what you want in a way that better aligns with your ethics, ignore it! This is a reasonable and logical stance, somehow!”

Of course you give up the option of eating a steak; steaks, in the sense that you’re talking about, are made of meat. But why do you care what other people call their food?

I’m fine with AOC (she’s done a ton of things I admire and like, and only a few that I don’t)—but I’m annoyed with the media’s coverage of her on both sides. On one side, she faces a ton of sexist trash, and on the other they are elevating her to an impossible pedestal and giving her credit for shit that’s been around

look, it’s not like child pornography isn’t a significant and extremely important concern

“What about the children???!!?!?!!?!????!1" is tired and absurd. Telling people that their opinion will result in more raped children is so crazy that it can’t be true. How do people get this stupid?

No one is debating whether or not child pornography is bad. The problem is that, in attempting to combat something that isn’t very prevalent, they are effectively censoring everyone.

So wait, are you for or against erotic fandoms? I ask because there being a lot of material for that purpose is directly related to people openly making it around whatever they want.

I’ve been using the web since 1995, and in that time, I can honestly say that I’ve never stumbled upon child pornography.

Or maybe you’re a prude and there’s nothing wrong with adult content? *shrug*

It’s wild how many artists/creators actually make adult type of content and there is a pretty consistent and healthy community around it.

And then it would also put a HUGE damper on any artists creating anything that breaks the guidelines in general. Even if it’s tame.

It’s like Yahoo wants to kill Tumblr, haha.

It isn’t, though, you simpleton. Considering how much of American life has been commercialized, the actual act of sex when not occurring with a sex worker has been remarkably free of capitalistic infiltration. The fact that you think that sex is a purely commercial transaction says far more about you than it does

I have to disagree.

And not all women who undergo FGM have genitals that no longer work. Many, many do have severe complications. But FGM covers a very wide of practices and as a result, the complications can range widely as well. One woman may end up with a completely removed clitoris and a fistula.  Another may `only` have her outer

This I absolutely agree with. I think when talking about FGM and people bring up circumcision, it’s more then acceptable to say “we’re talking about this right now.” But when people respond by insisting circumcision has no possible negative effects and has no parallels at all it comes across as disingenuous. I

It absolutely does impact men’s sexual health and pleasure. I agree FGM has a much greater impact, but can we not pretend that the removal of nerve endings and protective tissue somehow magically has no effect when it happens to a penis?

He didn’t say that. He did say that there is no federal jurisdiction to enact such a law.

I didn’t say it was the same. I’m saying it’s a procedure done to someones reproductive organs, generally without their consent, motivated primarily by religious reasons, and neither one should be acceptable.

“Nazis are shooting my people,” Shoup says, to which a male voice responds “You’re throwing milk at people.”
