Gotta be a first time for everything right?

I like it. I doesn’t look like your standard cookie cutter coupe / sedan / lifted blob that everyone is making.

Good news we recovered your car, bad news it’s at Picknpull now

The car went from stolen to totaled.

Indeed. Orthodox economic theory actually postulates that trade barriers are more harmful to the country erecting them than the country that’s targeted. Trump’s tariffs are going to make U.S. manufacturing less competitive, and raise prices for U.S. consumers across the board. The U.S. is going to look a lot like the

Heard some pretty shocking news that even some people who voted democrat down ballot still voted for Trump simply because they think he will be better for the economy! I saw latinx people watch Trump says he think they have “murder genes” and still said they would vote for him.

This right here.

1) It will force U.S. automakers to close plants in Mexico, and bring those manufacturing jobs back to the U.S.”

Well Texas did blame California somehow for their independent electricity grid going down... so anything is possible if you’re willing to mentally depart from reality.

Building new plants is a great opportunity to invest in automation projects that didn’t quite make sense before, either because the old equipment still had life left or the Mexican labor rates didn’t justify it. So for the vehicles that do get moved to the US, fewer people will be needed to build them.

Imagine you’re a Chinese manufacturer that really wants to expand their footprint in central and south america, when suddenly a bunch of gently used automobile manufacturing plants in Mexico go up for sale. Oh happy day!

Accurate, but number 4 is already a reallity. 1 of every 4 vehicles in Mexico are already Chinese. This same year China displaced USA as number one importer in Mexico.

I don’t dissagree whith what you’re saying - I’d just like to add:

Honestly, my guess is that he genuinely forgot about it.

One thing not mentioned is that auto companies aren’t going to have to just weigh the effect of the tariffs, but also align that with the possibility that the pendulum swings back to the Democrats in 4 years, who would more than likely revoke those same tariffs.

Trump initially wanted to name his window dressing replacement for NAFTA the USMC because that’s the same acronym as the United States Marine Corps. The Marines raised a fuss, though, so the treaty was renamed UMSCA.

The US throws tariffs on Canadian softwood lumber just about every other year despite NAFTA and the WTO ruling in Canada’s favour every time.

Hey Trump & His Minions... follow along here:

I’d like to see some commentary about how during his prior term Trump blew his own whistle long and hard about his triumphant “BETTER THAN NAFTA” (but basically the same as NAFTA) negotiation, and how now his first major promise is to gut it entirely.

Personally, my hope is...
