I grew up in Amarillo, which is not only on the Historic Route 66 but is mentioned in the song about the road. Though I-40 is the highway through town now, the city still does everything it can to promote its association with the old Route 66, so even decades later, there’s a weird pride for some to have been a town

I remember that advertising pointing out the tail light similarities, etc. but it didn’t feel retro to me. It felt like slapping some new tail lights and sanding off some edges of the previous generation.

Because I grew up in the 1970s and 1980s, Camaros (and Firebirds) were the easy winner during that time. The Mustang II and the like just didn’t look or feel like muscle cars in the same way that the GM cars did. A Camaro or a Firebird was cool. Unless it was a restored OG model (which were, for whatever reason, still

It’s better than the Lamborghini stretch limo on ‘Black Monday’ at least.

Minimum wage is higher on the Mexican side of the border than on the Texas side (not that auto factory workers on either side tend to make minimum wage). I have a Puebla-built Jetta. The quality is on par with the US-built Passat I had before.

It was just a Kia Soul in my wife’s case.

Of course, I’d bet people are even more likely to find their manual cars roll away when they’re like my wife and leave the thing in neutral (and forget to engage the parking brake) when they get out.

The more you zoom, the more pronounced the shakiness gets.

Really? Would not have guessed that. I can only really remember Egerton in the Kingsman movies and that terrible Billionaire Boys Club remake. He just seemed short in those to me.

Isn’t he a little short for a superspy?

I’m mostly brand agnostic, but after owning a GM car once, I have refrained from making the same mistake again.

I had a Celica of this vintage, too, back when it was a new car. I really liked it, especially coming from a Trans Am that broke down all the time and got about 3 mpg.

Good for them.

Yeah, but I want to.

I’ll get my Credit Union loan application started.

I went through one of the old Air Force One 707s (SAM27000) that was used for Nixon through Reagan (and probably the back-up plane for a little while after that) that’s on display at the Reagan Library out in California, and I was amazed at how much they were able to cram in to what is a pretty small space.

I like it, too. I like adding red (I think some of the early Amati-guy designs had some red in them, but that was abandoned).

Just three (Eric, Drama, and Turtle)... four if Ari Gold comes along.

People tend to buy what’s available, and the cheap-o versions are barely available. I had to specifically ask just to get shown a base Kia Soul when my wife was shopping for a car. And my ‘04 Mazda 6 had to come from San Antonio to get one that wasn’t larded up with options (and it took going to four different Mazda

If you saw my garage right now...
