I don't really know where you get this from, as an owner of an AW11 MR2, i would say that chassis feels prety stiff. It is short, it is small, and has a lot of metal in it for it's size, evidenced by the fact, that even though it is smaller than an 1.6 Civic of similar vintage, it is heavier by a cool 100kg at least.

I know the starlight roof sounds ott, but in the flesh, when i drove a phantom fixed head coupe gazing at mere mortals over the unpainted stainless steel bonnet... i somehow found them fitting. #humblebrag
