I think it has more to do with safety than anything else. My first car was an old Ford Laser (Mazda 323). It had no power steering, a 5 speed stick and not much else. After I sold that I made sure to get a safer car, which was my 190E, it didn’t have airbags, but at least it had ABS. After that was onto a modern VW

I really miss my old 190E, I just wish there were more Cosworths over here.

RUF: Hey can I see your homework

The most expensive car is a cheap Mercedes.

That fade-out/fade-in is perfect

Performance badges on base models

My aftermarket car alarm would set off the door bell of our house every time I locked my car. It wasn’t even the same tone though, it was a different to what we had it set to. After a while everyone knew if there actually someone at the door or just me coming home. I eventually found the sweet spot where I was close

Yep, I can confirm the “Australia tax”. It you want to have a laugh just browse carsales.com.au and check out some pricing for a new Mustang or Focus RS.

No thanks on the apps. Bluetooth for audio streaming is all I want. I don’t even need a big screen on the dash, I’ll stick my phone on the windshield and call it a day.

Apart from people asking if you can fix their car, I’d have to agree with having family and friends ignore your well thought out suggestions for new cars. It’s worth it though when they actually take your advice. An aunt of mine was upgrading her Aurion (Basically the nicer V6 Camry here in Australia) and I suggested

It’s the old bugbear of aesthetics vs aerodynamics. For passenger cars, aesthetics usually win out as consumers will buy with their eyes, a fact that the marketing department of major automakers know all to well. That’s why there’s always such a battle between designers and engineers and we rarely see a car dip below

I always hope that some day I’ll come across a Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 (you know, that crazy Group B homologation special) for sale and the owner has no idea what it’s really worth. I imagine it going something like this: I see an ad for “Old Peugeot 205, sports, not GTi”. Every other person thinks it’s just some modded

Beautiful writing Raph

Those downshifts though

Each team approached the challenge exactly how one of their own episodes would unfold. From the car selection, to workmanship and finally how it drives. RK hacked together an interesting car from parts lying around that would decimate tyres all day long (if you could find enough batteries to keep it alive) and not

*130kw/tonne

It would have to be the Nissan Skyline (32-34), at least here in Australia. Almost every teenager wants one and as soon as they get their licence they get whatever NA version they can afford, which they chop up or crash. I say NA because you can’t drive a turbo made before 2010 or that has over 130kW before getting

Is this a lot of money to spend just so you can look like you fell out of a future where everyone smokes Space Cigs and shoots eyeball amphetamines while they run the Mulsanne Straight?

I like to imagine that this is what car enthusiasts will become after autonomous cars take over.
