I am a straight man, and I have to agree that NSync and Backstreet Boys had some guys in them who probably didn’t inspire a lot of crushes then or now.  But the guys in One Direction look pretty great, and will probably always be remembered as such.

Maybe I shouldn’t be shocked about smoking in London in 2002.  I live in Washington, DC, and smoking was allowed indoors as recently as 2007.  I think it still is in Nevada and several southern states.  I bartended for several years, and smoking indoors after hours was a always a mild thrill. 

I used to be a substitute teacher, so I have seen “Stand and Deliver” many times.  That movie was made in 1988, and set in 1983.  I was shocked to see the teachers smoking on campus during a faculty meeting.  I wonder if that was accurate, even for the 1980's.
