It’s pretty easy: if you think you need to paint your skin or do something to your costume that is expressly meant to portray a race other than your own, you are not doing the costume right. Or you are wearing the costume for racist reasons (get a new costume).

I feel like we’re maybe a year away from conservative pundits arguing that slavery was a net positive to the US and we would benefit from repealing the 13th Amendment. Also, that whole Holocaust thing was totally overblown.
