It’s weird how cancel culture is a myth but you know exactly who you want to use it to destroy.

I think there’s a funny thing going on with “Orynthia” in which the author of the book, Matt Ruff, gave the comic character the name “Orynthia Blue” to match her mother’s name (Hippolyta), since Hippolyta is the name of the queen of the Amazons and there was another Amazon queen named Orythia who, according to myth,

This was bad.  This entire run of Doctor Who has been bad, and I think it’s time to give up on it.  I was excited by the episode that introduced the random extra Doctor, but this episode has now ruined that episode by explaining that mystery in the most literal, boring way imaginable.  The Timeless Child business

It bugs me how much The Doctor is nerfed in the Chibnall era.  Why is she so stupid?  All of her anti-Cyberman gimmicks are immediately destroyed.  She says “I’ll stall them” but in fact has no way of doing this and everyone not in the space ship the humans were repairing just dies.  She can’t hotwire or pilot a space

The BBC Sherlock is a show that has gotten progressively worse with each season.  I think the “loner genius” take on the character is a lot better than the “weird showboat celebrity closet case” version that they’re currently airing.  I mean, does it count as subversion if you alter the character and it sucks?

That sounds ok, but I have trouble imagining that the kind of radical activist Bouie is imagining could simultaneously be a billionaire. In fact, most of my problems with all versions of Batman as a character have to do with his insane wealth - let’s just see if we can tell a story about Batman where he doesn’t have

Eh.  I don’t see shouting at a person who has been publicly declared a target for public shaming as particularly heroic.  On the other hand, this whole problem could be easily avoided if CK would just advertise his performances in advance.  I think people would go.

Yeah...I really hate TLJ but it’s very confusing to me why it’s a political issue.  The move just seems bad...to me.

For the record, Tara and Willow definitely had sex after the memory wipe, during “I’m Under Your Spell”, so Willow did literally exactly what David did, pretty much for the same reasons and without suffering any mental illness other than addiction.

I mean, the show could retconn the assault by making it the Shadow King using David’s form, but that seems kind of lame.

Huh.

I mean, I agree that it’s super depressing that the show went in this direction, but Legion isn’t Buffy, and it’s not The Flash. I think it’s a deeper and more psychologically interesting show.

It makes perfect sense that David used his powers to make Syd forget that she had stopped loving him, and that he slept

Nah, it’s garbage and you have poor taste in media, objectively. Just kidding, come on, obviously TLJ hit a sweet spot for some people, so it can’t be the time-waster I see when I watch it...so I guess people just want different things from stories.

Kylo Ren is a shark jump in human form. He is unwatchably, frustratingly awkward and nonsensical as a character, and he’s still the best thing about the hot mess that is TLJ.

And yet here you are defending that piece of poodoo....

I hate TLJ, and I feel the same way; people defending it make me double down. The truth is it’s just kind of lame, not genuinely awful.

I agree with you precisely

I think Sherlock’s storytelling disappeared up it’s own backside around season 3 and never came out. The show was at its best as a relatively straightforward procedural detective series. When it became a show about repeatedly psychoanalyzing all the characters and their relationships, it got bad. The performances

Hey, so a lot of people are going to keep beating up on you because it’s the internet, but I think it’s great that you can hear some criticism, even phrased unkindly, and live with it, and that you can apologize when you have to. I don’t know what else anyone would ask of you, except maybe helping your web site

Horribly, I must admit that I was oddly touched by “Thank you. Thank you very much.”

What a great scene! If they had like half an hour more of this and used it to replace the whole Holdo/Gambling Planet part of this movie, they could maybe have saved it.
