Bam is such a toxic person (even before the drug addiction) he has pushed away anyone that would genuinely want to get him help, and anyone that could tell him this is a bad idea.  

It’s not really the guilt, it’s just that you are a source of support and structure to that person as their friend or employer. If you take away that support and structure, even if you have excellent reasons for doing so, the risk to that person increases.

Also, if they really are close friends and you cut them off, you just gave them one less reason not to get loaded, go to jail, go to rehab, or die.
