How is this different than someone getting a spray tan as makeup for instance? They didn’t change anyone’s race, they just changed the tone.

Wait, is is blackface if it’s already a black person getting their skin darkened? I think that’s probably the main question a lot of people have. I guess I think of this more like getting a spray tan. How is it different?
The Ford battery thing is a pretty easy question to answer. I’ve been working on designing an EV in my field and it’s been 2+ years of talking with our supplier and working out a battery design that actually works and fits. I’m also in a field where a new “model” takes a few years at most to design.
I think the AlphaTauri livery has a very vintage feel to it. I think it’s novel, if a tad less exciting than most.
The problem doesn’t necessarily really seem to be EVs as much as the grid, at least that felt like what the story was getting at to me. Europe may not have a problem because they have a more robust grid.
I think this is a similar problem with the minimum wage issue. Where you live in the country has a massive difference on whether $80k a year at a job is killing it or barely scraping by. I have a friend in SF whose rent is 3x my mortgage. I think his apartment is maybe 750 square feet while my house is 1300 square…
My dad has had one of these in his toolbox forever and I never really paid much attention to it. It was cool as a kid because of the moving parts and stuff, but the use case for it was pretty limited with the kind of work I typically did with my dad. Fast forward a decade or two and when you’re rebuilding an entire…
The carriage is incredibly well-preserved, and like all really classy fancy vehicles, has a good assortment of erotic art, in this case tin medallions that show cupids going at it in various ways:
I would almost guarantee this is the case. I was once filling up a truck before setting out on the trip home from a track I was at and there was a military convoy there as well that was filling up and generally getting ready for something. I sat there for probably 5-10 minutes at least and I think I might have been…
I think there will always be a need for liquid fuel engines, so yeah, this just makes sense to continue to develop. Picture a jobsite or remote area or even a disaster zone that needs power. In an EV future maybe you have a giant battery pack you can wheel onsite to provide power, but what equipment would it take to…
This one wasn’t horrendously bad, just recent as my wife and I just recently purchased a car. We’d been looking at 4Runners and specifically wanted a TRD Pro for the suspension as my wife has had some back and neck issues and driving all of the different suspensions back to back it was noticeably smoother. One thing…
I don’t think there ever will be full adoption of electric vehicles, though I do think they will grow in market share and maybe become a majority at least over time. I think liquid fuel powered engines will always have their place in some cases, so it would be nice to at least have better fuel options for them. Maybe…
It sadly doesn’t look like there’s much left to salvage here, especially since being exposed to the elements like this would have cooked any piece of electronics or wiring in the machine.
see if Pizza Hut will exchange my ancient Book-It for a personal pan
Honestly this is a smart idea. How many billions of vehicles have been made over the years that use an internal combustion engine? Even with electrification ramping up, that is an absolutely massive backlog of vehicles that will basically never get fully replaced for various reasons. Trying to use existing…
The first time I saw these was actually in a testing situation. We had contracted a company to instrument a frame we had built with strain gauges and this is how they hooked up the leader wires from the DAQ box to the straight gauge solder pads. I asked the tech about it because they really interested me and his…
and showing specifically which bulbs were out (including the rarely-checked license plate light bulb)
Am I the only person who didn’t read that press release as SRT being disbanded in the first place? I read it as the team being absorbed into the full Stellantis organization, which in my mind meant that they would work not just on the Dodge/Ram/Jeep/Chrysler side of things, but also the Peugot and other brands. So…
I’ve got an idea why they may not have one single large battery pack. Think of what Jeeps do. They go off road and have lots of articulation. While the goal of a good solid frame and suspension design is to have the suspension do the majority of flexing, if you are twisting up a vehicle that hard you are going to be…
I don’t think any team will be able to agree on the exact definition of an “emotive” power unit.
