My wife and I just bought a 2021 4Runner and it has the new LED headlights. I think it’s the same projector housing as the previous models, but they are fantastic and really light up the road nicely.
I still have my 71 that was my first car. Love the way it looks.
I’ve said for years now that 3D printing is the best thing for restoration because the volume of parts you build no longer matters to the cost. The biggest hurdle has more been being able to use an appropriate material or strength depending on the construction method, but that tech has continued to improve over the…
I think some of the problem is that so many manufacturers nowadays are hiding individual options in packages. I’m not familiar with how Porsche does it though. If someone took the time I suppose you could still have a decoder that makes a nice list like that Porsche one and breaks down each package, but seems like…
An older Jag XKR could be fun. I had a 2000 for a while and it was a really nice commuter, though it was boring to me because I like a stick and something that makes noise. Otherwise it was pretty to look at, super comfortable to ride in, had one of the best stereos in a car I’ve ever heard, and had decent power. I…
I like the look of the Mk4 Supra, but don’t care about all the crazy performance pedigree.
In 2025, the laws will become even more stringent, limiting brake pads to a maximum of 0.5 percent carbon composition.
I feel like a lot of the problem is just that it is a partially spec series. I know that it has opened up a lot (or at least that was the plan I read about years ago) regarding what you can change and what you can’t, but until it’s a clean sheet design series there’s only so much a manufacturer can get out of it. …
Those sensors collect data at a rate of over 10 MB per second.
I think some of the challenge is even knowing if your vehicle has one. It doesn’t feel like a widely publicized sort of feature. I think a lot of car parts websites will also try to tell you you have one in your car when you don’t.
Random question, but does your house not use natural gas or something like that for heating? I’m not telling you to suffer through December without heat or to only use electric space heaters as the efficiency of those is likely not as good as a gas furnace, but just one interesting point.
I’ve had a checkered past with this, but know the feeling for sure. The first few engines I built I never got to start on the first try. I dodged a real bullet on the first one I rebuilt, a 440 Mopar when my dad and I thought about the crank bearings we put in and looked at them again to find out we had them installed…
Ah, yeah, crappy roads and sand could very well be a big issue with any car, especially one like the Viper with near instant torque. I daily drove mine for years too, partially because I wanted to be super familiar with it and how it would respond. I also just kind of drive mine like a regular car most of the time,…
Weird, that just sounds like the car was really not set up right or something. My mom’s 94 is a hoot to drive around and never really feels unstable at all.
I dunno, I’d say my Viper is pretty dang well track focused for being a street car and not that compromised at all on the track. Aside from safety things like a roll cage the street car and the factory race car are basically the same thing. It’s a common chassis and common suspension pieces, though suspension bushings…
A couple of easy observations...
Mine wasn’t a car as much as a motorcycle, but that only lasted for the first few times of twisting the throttle. I learned on an old Kawasaki 440 LTD, then moved up to an 83 Honda Magna V45. That one was pretty impressive to me on its own and the first full throttle crank in a parking lot to see what it could do was…
I never really got that. My mom has a 94 and it’s not that big a deal to drive. I even did a few laps in it at a racetrack on a Viper weekend we went to and it drove pretty normal to me (aside from subpar brakes). Granted I have an 04 and am used to them, but I’ve never quite understood why everyone thinks they are…
What about a Fiat 124? Too obviously sporty? I think that would be a cool fun first car for someone that wouldn’t let them get into too much trouble.
