People really think that font is ugly? That looks miles better and more clear that I remember the original game being with its shadows and such.

It’s all just relabeled stuff anyway, so it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s actually pretty decent.  We had a fun one here where a customer requested a specific coolant for their trucks that was tough to find info on.  Come to find out it was exactly the same as something else, but they wanted to complain because it

I just got a pretty funny one the other day.  I need to try to get a picture as I can’t find it online right now.  It’s a wide but short poster of all the Dodge vehicles of 93 or something like that, complete with Eagle products.  It’s a lineup of somewhat boring, plain silver cars, then a red Viper at the end of it.

Had a feeling that people would “forget” they were an exception to begin with and not the new normal.  Easy enough to readjust, but with people these days I figured there will always be some complaining.

In Quebec, EVs get a free pass on toll highways, bridges, and carpool lanes.

Wow, blast from the past. Don’t think I ever played 2, but I remember playing 1 quite a bit with my brother. There are so many games that I’m sure we rented back in the day that are super fuzzy in my memory until I see a picture. Mischief Makers is one I swear I played after seeing screenshots, but can’t for the life

I’ve seen this firsthand as well.  I work on industrial trucks and we’ve had some suppliers talk to us about EV.  They found that the heating system alone uses as much energy as the truck.  Granted our vehicles also have the doors constantly opened and closed, so they need a pretty stout system to recover the cabin

the all-time loudest plane ever built, the Republic XF-84H Thunderscreech

What if someone saw you in that fine car, looking like that?

Snatch straps and tow balls?  Is this Jalopnik after dark?  Those off-road boys must be lonely...

Yeah, I think I like the diversity of vehicles in the modern Gone in 60 Seconds as well.  They’ve got a lot more material to work with and have some really neat cars in there, even if they don’t get much screen time.

Yeah, I pretty much just tried to set them when I replaced them, then on the test drive I would back out of the driveway and bump the brakes several times as I was rolling backwards to tighten everything up.  I don’t think I’ve ever adjusted one between replacing shoes, though my dad still has the spoon in his

Unfortunately, the more cookie-cutter the race cars have gotten, some fans have found the racing itself to be less interesting.

Yeah, I’m familiar with those as I still have a set of drum brakes on one of my cars.  I had wondered if your story would have been one time it would have taken a while to notice and not been super evident at the first test drive.  Seems like it might be noticeable over time as the pedal would keep dropping further

I guess my point with the lower throttle opening thing is when I read reviews about someone driving two cars back to back when one has only something like 20 hp more than the other and they say they can tell the difference. No, that’s not really what you are feeling if you are driving the car normally. The cars only

Yes and no. For the yes part, they are mathematically related, so you only need one to know the other (okay, you need rpm too). For the no part, horsepower is probably best used to describe how fast you can move a given weight.

I like this idea.  Certainly gives you a better idea of useful power.

Gearing really doesn’t mean much in the long run though, at least not from a power perspective. It matters more for keeping an engine in its powerband, but ultimately has no bearing on power itself. In a perfectly efficient gearset, no power is lost. Torque gets multiplied, but speed is reduced to keep the ratio even.

The last story is one reason my dad always told me “if you work on the brakes, you test drive the vehicle after”.  Especially if you are doing them for someone else.  Doesn’t matter how many you have done before, you test drive it.  Also, you take it easy when you first test it.  Don’t go hauling down the street like

I’ll have to watch the original movie one of these days.  I saw the remake years ago, but never looked into finding the original.  Kind of like Gone in 60 Seconds.  I have seen parts of that original, though I don’t know that I’ve see the whole thing.
