I realize engine tech is miles ahead of where it used to be, but it seems to me a NASCAR engine may not be the best fit for a sport that has more rapid changing throttle positions.  I would think most NASCAR engines are built to run at wide open throttle or rolled on and off, not really stabbed constantly.  Maybe not,

Anyone else thinking driving simulator setup?

I kinda agree with you via the BOP methods.  I know they can more or less limit horsepower with restrictors, just seems like picking a set number for horsepower seems almost guaranteed to fail.  Saying you have a fixed restrictor to breathe through would probably be easier.

“Scary stuff, guys, when the stuff you do on social media can be used against you,”

Also seems like that would be awfully easy to modify without anyone knowing.  Seems like they could just change ECU programming or engine internals without anyone knowing unless they were tested constantly.

There were certainly outside forces causing the destruction of what may have been the greatest class of international sports cars in history

I couldn’t have one until I could drive on my own. Made enough sense to me. Until I could be somewhere on my own and might need to call for help I didn’t really need one. My parents took me where I was going and knew who I was with (like school or a friend’s house), so they would just call the place I was if they

I would say it depends on whether you are effectively using the clutch as a brake pedal (slipping it to match speed) or letting it out quickly and then using engine braking.  Using the clutch to slow the car to match engine speed would likely not be a good thing for clutch longevity.  Matching quickly and coasting

That’s pretty cool.  I had a feeling that there was probably something baked into the system.

I’m fine with that, I guess I’m talking more about development miles.  Once you prove the system in 99.9% of cases I’m okay with giving it to people that may fall asleep behind the wheel (isn’t that the point after all?).  Just saying it’s an impossible task to find someone to stay awake is a lame excuse for not being

Fair enough, but I’m talking most just for development miles.  Once you can prove the system in 99% of conditions I don’t really mind selling it to consumers that might fall asleep at the wheel (isn’t that one of the goals of autonomy after all?).  I’m talking more just for the research and development.  Saying it’s

How about an ammo pouch? I’d gladly give up a second weapon for enough shots to do something with the first. When you’re exploring a large island and only have five shots or whatever and it takes 2 to kill a skeleton, it’s not exactly ideal when they normally spawn 4+ at dig sites.

that are exempt from existing auto safety standards

I’ve got a question for those out there with plug-in hybrids.  Maybe those who designed them took this into mind and maybe not, but what happens if you have a short commute and don’t use the gas engine very often at all?  Say I work in town and my commute is only 5-10 miles.  I could do that all electric every day.

Isn’t this just called a throttle pedal in most cars?

I guess to expound on my other point some more after some thought, while towing is typically thought of as a torque game, towing at speed is a horsepower game. It takes torque to get a load moving, a great application for electric motors, but it takes horsepower to keep it moving at speed, which is also fine for

Ah, that’s rather interesting.  I hadn’t heard about that for injection molding.  I know stuff like vacuum forming can have “temporary” tools and production tools.  I guess something like this could maybe even be vacuum formed for small quantity samples.

I just don’t see BEVs pulling heavy loads for long highway trips that well.  If I get 8 mpg that means I was using an awful a lot of power.  I don’t think battery capacity is there yet for a multi-hour towing journey with an enclosed trailer being a wind brake.

I don’t think the fact that she happened to be a child matters at all for this case...

I’m hyped for the Rivian stuff. I don’t know why, but the truck and SUV from them just appeal to me more than other EVs on the market.
