“A huge lesson in this is that any innovative technology needs to be perfect when it ships, or it will likely fail.”

If that means corporations are helping us achieve our objectives now too? I mean, I don’t like corporations but you gotta admit they got clout. That’s some pull on our side right there.

I’m not sure I get the sparkler reference.  The rest of them are familiar enough.

I do something similar to this, but with a bit of a different finish.  I go for around medium to just a bit higher heat (something like a 5.5-6 on my stove’s dial of 10, it’s electric).  I toss some butter in the pan then do 2 minutes on each side and finish it in a 400-425 degree oven for 3-4 minutes depending on

I debated taking the whole Christmas to New Year break of days off from work, which my wife suggested I could use to catch up on some games, but I don’t think I have it in me anymore to do marathon sessions like that.  I just feel like I should be doing something else.

I’m not sure that I’ve ever purchased a pen in my lifetime after I was out of school.  I somehow have a drawer full of them and rarely do any of them work, but I would never buy one.  Sharpies I’ll buy, but those have more specific uses to me (I work on cars, so a marker is nice for something things and a pen won’t

I’m in the same boat.  The more I read about these games the more interesting they seem.  I just wish I had more time to play them.  Still have something like 3 RPGs waiting in the wings.

That’s all well and good, but taking an unproven technology and rushing it to market is the big issue here for me. It’s one thing if it’s non-critical, but when a fault in the system has a significant chance for causing death to either passengers or pedestrians, I think they need to be taking a more cautious

In regards to EV and especially driverless, am I the only one who thinks trying to develop these faster than anything else in vehicular history is a bad idea? I don’t want technology that replaces drivers to be something that is rammed through a company’s development system at light speed and released in a few years.

Uh, not sure what you mean by lap times.

Or get a Viper ACR for $20k less than the Porsche and maybe beat them both?

I do feel like in a lot of cases, communities end up tunneling on what they are told to do and not necessarily exploring too much beyond that.

But doesn’t a “base” 911 still start over $100k? And they all basically look “the same”. You might get 4wd vs RWD in different models, but the engine is still in the same place and it still looks like every other 911. I think they are ostensibly built on the same frame as well.

I just don’t see any way they can sell two different cars with the same “name” that are some completely different. My money is that it will use a different name or something. I see this as going after the Ford GT in a way as far as vehicle lineups go.

My dad had a similar issue on his 93 Stealth.  He had a window broken and went to get a replacement and had a slew of options to pick from.  He’s had a cracked windshield in it for some time too and I think had similar questions as to what to replace it with.  I think more personal choice than trying to match factory

I guess I’m also one of the few that works on everything I own.  Even if it’s just to clean up the engine bay a bit when it’s getting dirty from all the driving.  If the latch is already electric then I’d say why not put a button for it.  Making an electric latch just to offer this feature I would agree is a bit much.

Uh, Dodge and Plymouth and probably others did this back in the 60's with black painted hoods.  Cuts down on the glare when you have a huge sheet of metal in front of you.  I’m pretty sure those were matte.  Having painted my own hood matte on my 67 Dart I can say it’s only matte when you first paint it.  The cover on

And this is exactly what I point to when people say “but I can put an engine in my car in the driveway, why can’t the factory?”  More specifically people that say this about EVs.  I don’t care if you have a welder and have put a motor and batteries in your car and it actually drives.  Does it meet crash standards?

This is so me.  I have a few vehicles that seem to languish and I always think about selling them, then I drive them and remember how much I like them.  The latest issue is just that my wife’s back doesn’t put up with my sports cars or motorcycle.  Hopefully we can get it fixed though.  She actually like the Viper

Honestly, a remote hood opening button wouldn’t be that unwelcome on any car.  How many times have you wanted to check oil or an air filter or something like that only to have to walk back to the door to reach in and find the latch buried somewhere under the dash?  You don’t have to use it very often for it to still
