Doing 20 in 4th in my car is interesting at best. I’ve technically driven 45 in 6th when I’ve missed going to 4th as I cruise, but it’s very apparent the car doesn’t care it. My 3.07 rear ratio combined with tire size means 4th gear tops out for me around 155. It’ll still pull reasonably hard since it’s a torque

Maybe, a lot of those super high gear number transmissions just keep adding overdrives.  4th tends to be 1:1 in an awful lot of transmissions.  I know the old Mopar 833 4 speed and the T56 are basically the same ratios from 1-4 and 5 and 6 are both just overdrives.  A 7 speed might sneak one more gear in below 1:1,

Never realized these were that rare or that they were built for that long.  I saw one of these at a car show once, though I doubt it was a Shelby version or anything.  Just sorta assuming it was an old race car or track toy thing and moved on.

Yeah, fair enough.  I just checked Tesla’s site and pulled those numbers as they were listed under “away from home” type charging.  I also thought the kWh units seemed off.  Should have checked it better.

Yeah, that’s kinda what I’m thinking.  I agree that the odds of everyone hitting peak demand at the same time are slim to none, but it’s worth noting that this is a real potential issue if there is more widespread electric vehicle usage anywhere.  If electric is the new normal and everyone goes to the grocery store to

So if each station is a 100 kWh station, that would mean 5000 kWh, or 5 MWh.  Somehow I get the impression that not everyone is going to be able to charge at once, at least not at maximum capacity.

I’ve got a rotor from when Caterham went under and I picked up a brake pad to go with it when I went to the Goodwood Festival of Speed a few years ago.

Aston is tough to me.  They make some beautiful cars and they seem like they would be fun, but I think they might almost be like McLaren in a sense and diluting their brand by trying to have so many different models.  When they all basically look the same, it’s hard to tell one from another at a glance, which I think

Have you actually looked at the dimensions for one? They are not large cars. If you think a Viper is large, you also think a Ferrari 458 is large as they have nearly the exact same dimensions. For comparison, see the picture below I took when I went to lunch one day:

I guess I’m not sure where I fall on this.  Everywhere you hear about medicine-resistant superbugs and not overusing antibiotics and other medicines, yet at the same time they push the flu shot really hard.  Seems like they are talking from both sides at once.

I think the biggest issue I have with it is the financial setup.  I get that they are trying to get more women into racing, but theoretically making it “free” to race for them isn’t fair to the thousands of other people out there who would like to race and have skill to race but no money to do it.  I’d love the

I have been truly blessed to be in a fun car family.  There has pretty much always been at least one entertaining car in our garage through the years.  Dad grew up on muscle cars with Road Runners and Superbees, they had Vettes, we had an old 911 for a short time, etc.  Dad actually had an 03 Viper for a while so we

To respond to the last question, I had a 2000 XKR for a while.  Awesome car, super comfortable, also a pile of miles on it when I got it (120k+).  Worked great for my commute, but it was a bit boring for me.  It was mechanically okay, but starting to get a bit electrically gremlin-y.  It also blew a headgasket after I

So has anyone calculated the theoretical max MPG a vehicle is capable of? The simple version would be something like amount of drag and horsepower requirement, then go off of engine efficiency and figure out what is possible today at least. Granted all of this is just for steady state travel at a given speed though,

I’ve got a 2004, so gen 3.  My mom actually has a 94 and is what got me thinking about it, but I needed real windows and some more pedal space, so I looked at newer ones.

Around 6 years and counting now I believe.  About to roll over 123,000 miles.  I only really need to drive myself and my fiance to work, so don’t really need much else.  It gets good enough mileage on the highway and is fun, so I figured why not? =P

Those would have been much better choices.  I guess I was just alphabetical and it was the first that came to mind, lol.

Now, more bad news: for the first time since 2007, Ford got beaten in monthly new car sales by Fiat Chrysler

I can get around 25k out of the rears on my Viper, but it’s because of highway commuting and daily driving. The front will go more like 40-50k. I track it once a year currently for an extended weekend event, so my current rotation is more like run a brand new set at the track for a year or two, then swap those over

While GM owns them, that doesn’t mean they are exclusive to GM.  I’ve bought plenty of AC Delco switches and sensors and such for stuff that wasn’t GM.  Maybe they don’t deal with Honda parts, but my point was more just OEM vs “aftermarket”.
