Aluminum does rust (or corrode) and will bubble paint off. That being said, you won’t get gaping holes since the corrosion stays mostly on the surface. The layer of corrosion becomes a corrosion-inhibitor. Yay, science!

I’ll stick with this, thank you. 300k and half the price. Drove it 6000 miles to RI and back to LA in December. No rattles and nothing fell off. Even has a similar green color and slightly better gas mileage
Okay, follow me on this one. If you are the kind of person who likes a lady to dress up in black leather and beat you with a whip until you cry, and said lady charges you 1000 dollars to perform said service, then if you find another lady who will beat you until you cry for 800 dollars, then that’s a deal. Anyone who…
At some point, everything needs some maintenance. For example, my 06 Scion XA has been reliable, but I have replaced the following:
this is .. all-around mechanically reliable AWD, all the time, vehicle.
Makes sense, a bigger motor has to work less hard to move the same load.
Had someone tell the exact same thing the other day about the 3.6.
The Coronet #1 With nudists, with special non-stick seats!
Yeah its hard to believe all this testing is done just for Mopar to lay a turd of a vehicle at the end of the assembly line.
Wind tunnel test.
Just going to say this, my 2014 GT gained power off of just installing a cat delete. I had a catback and you can feel the difference on the butt dyno. Also cars tuned by the same guy, with the same intake, and only cat delete as difference. Car with cats made 25ishWhp less. Consistently.
I had a blown 4.6 Mustang, did away with the cats and replaced them with resonators and got another 10 horses. Could’ve been the weather or what have you, but I had to replace them because they had blown out.
I ran full catless on my subaru, and you actually do gain more power without them than with a high flow cat. You have to tune for it to make a difference, of course. Anyway, here in Florida nobody gives a damn about emissions and catless downpipes make more turbo spool noises. Sensations, woo!
Mine had a cat in the…

Both on my ‘95 Cobra and my friends ‘89 Supra turbo. going catless made big power gains. Granted the Cobra had 4 cats.
The 500 Abarth is “catless” from the factory. It's glorious.
Most of Wisconsin is emissions exempt. I lived in a part that wasn’t for a few months. No lie, the first thing people did when they bought a car up there was gut/remove/straightpipe the cat.
I don’t believe I know anyone that does this for power gain. However I do know some that do it because the vehicle isn't t worth putting a $300 hunk of precious metal in when you can spend around $20 to bypass it.
I’m really thinking about doing this, not for any power gain, just because it’s not illegal yet..
Well... this bullshit pretty much negates the whole article.
