Ehhh.... I’m a Yankee fan, and not a sky-is-falling spoiled Yankee fan like most of my brethren. The team has not been right since May. The rotation is very thin (no news there), the lineup is HR-or-bust, their infield defense is shaky, and the manager is lost.

Along those lines it’s always stunning to me just how many commercials are on TV for lotteries and scratch-off tickets. Governments aren’t just content to take money off of the gullible and hopeful poor, they’re buying adtime to make sure they take as much as possible.

These slimy fucks are probably going to get their money and it’s going to be $180 million less dollars for actual important things that in all likelihood have a more pronounced effect on lower-to-middle income peoples. It’s just another example of thinly-veiled class warfare and it makes my blood boil.

it’s almost as though the state is an apparatus whose main purpose is to protect class rule and its accompanying injustices, and to project compliance-inducing aggression on behalf of the American elite and its favored allies — locally, nationally, and internationally.

Simple idea: No team can move to a new market until they “clear waivers” and are offered for sale to anyone who would keep them there.

Eh, he’s a newer Deadsipn writer. Meaning everything is shit because he is too cool for school now that he works for a no-shit-taking blog. Takes about a half a year to get over.

“The Cubs—and some of their annoying fans—really don’t need the luck anymore. But they’re getting it so far this season.”

We had 108 years of bad luck and bad team. So your “we don’t need the luck” is kinda bullshit. We’re having a great couple of years. Relax.

Also, I can tell you the rest of the league outside of the

I fucking hate the Cubs (Indians fan, unfortunately) but to say the Cubs are lucky this year is to gratuitously cherrypick.

You might as well just get rid of 75% percent of the league at this point

yea same. I cant even tell you how many brats/pitchers of Staropramen I have put down my gullet there.

Oh man ... I used to live right across the street from this place.... The shcnitzle and potatoe salad is the bomb plusses for being able to drink massive pitchers of eastern european beer outside.

Wow, this is a deeper look into the Mets than anyone in the front office for the Mets has made this year. Kudos to you!

Over his last 10 starts, deGrom’s ERA is 0.87. The team has somehow won just two of those games.

Actually, I suspect the Mets are exactly as the Wilpons want them to be. There is so much money flowing into baseball these days, it is probably far more profitable to own a non-competitive team than one that is riding near the top of its league. And the Wilpons are much more about the money than they are about

Much of this could also be said about the Pirates, who also started hot and collapsed, who also had a brief window of contention that peaked 3 years ago, and who also have shitty owners that will run the team into the ground for the foreseeable future, if they cant fall ass backwards into a contender.

I still don’t understand how the Wilpons aren’t in prison. There’s no way they weren’t colluding with Madoff in his financial chicanery. But naturally, having the Wilpons in prison might allow someone else to lead the Mets to competence, so maybe it is for the best.

...so the Derby is going and you have horses like Exterminator (great name, right?) who was bought for $500 to be a exercise horse in 1917 and not a race horse. He was called “Old Bones” and the “Galloping Hat Rack” because never could keep on the weight. But whoops, guess who wins the 1918 Derby at 30-1! He went on

...and then came 1870s, when Meriwether Lewis Clark Jr. leased 80 acres from John and Henry Churchill to build...thats right Churchill Downs! Clark once the Epsom Derby in England (they say Darby” what un American prudes...) and said “hey, we need one of these!” and started a race in Kentucky called the “Kentucky

Nope...I am here all week....I know a few things about horse shit, given I have to clean the stalls right now. Now, listen closely, did you know that all thoroughbreds are descended from three different Arabians (horses, not people...geezus, what is wrong with you?). First there was the Godolphin Arabian....
