Seriously. That is the most see-through bullshit evah.

There are people who act as if what he did in Hollywood was an isolated incident and caused by grief (wtf?) over Sharon Tate’s murder. Gimme a break!

Anyone who heard about his most famous rape (of Geimer) and didn’t think this was a scenario he had repeated numerous times before and after that with other victims is a moron.

Yes to all this. I play a lot of video games and recently, male reviewers kept praising a walking simulator (no pejorative intended, that’s factually what this was) developed by a man where the leading woman was raped like seven times in a row.

This is a really good comment. I’ve been in a lot of men’s groups - many of them good ones where open sharing and true emotion happen - and yet this topic is assiduously avoided. When some guy actually brings it up the others get super uncomfortable. I participate in a group today where, amazingly, these conversations

Disagree. I look at an author like Jim Grimsley and he writes very effectively about that, for instance and most clearly in “Dream Boy”. There’s others that I’ve read who get male rape.

If what you meant was “dumb story line,” you shouldn’t have said “rape.”

Pretty sure Andy (the hero of the story) gets raped in Steven King’s novella Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption. (Andy/Tim Robbins definitely gets raped in the film adaptation.) This doesn’t change your point, just noting the exception to the rule.

Also the idea that almost any sexual contact a man or boy gets is a “blessing.”

Like being sexually vulnerable is emasculating.

This is an excellent point. Sadly I know many men (as well as women) who have been sexually abused and there seems to be an extra layer of shame. Like being sexually vulnerable is emasculating.

Or tax exemptions for churches.

Abstinence-only sex education, which guarantees more accidental pregnancies.

obvs.

The strategy AFAIK is to encourage businesses to refuse to make Satan cakes so that the Temple can bring a lawsuit to court that takes full advantage of the same religious protections enjoyed by Christians.

You don’t have to do anything. The member of the satanic temple can go there, order the cake you want at your wedding and tell them “This cake is being ordered by a member of the satanic temple in order to praise satan”

100% Reese is the girl who will taunt you at your locker surrounded by a gaggle of other girls, and Nicole is the one who will just slam your head in it and walk away.

I think I actually met Jeannette Vega when I was training to be a CPS worker. The training academy really tries to drill home a lot of the empathetic qualities we should have and makes sure we try to see all sides of these situations. The reality is that the job is ridiculously difficult and takes a devastating toll

This is a very hard read for me. Full disclosure, I’m an abuse survivor so I may have my own issues all over this, but... It really sounds like they’re painting parents as the victims. The parents are adults.

I was treated as a criminal. I wasn’t given a chance to explain myself. I wasn’t asked: What happened? I was just thrown behind bars. I felt like I was seen as a monster.
