It’s possible that they’re trying to do something very different. There have been a few adaptations and they have to shake it up somehow.  On the other hand, it could be they’re just CW-ing it, casting hot young-but-not-realistically-young people to draw eyes.

Oh really! Did the city enact laws requiring hospitals to give out hepatitis vaccines for free? Did they pass laws sending out qualified health professionals to go to homeless shelters and treat the bacterial, viral, and fungal infections that lead to meningitis? I’m not interested in whether or not she’s the speaker. I’m interested in the fact that every article, especially on this site, spits nothing but shit at her, all in the name of some astronomically huge“blue wave” that democrats are supposed to cater to but that never seems to materialize.
