Oh man. I thought Franco was just a self-important asshole who used his status to get vanity diplomas. It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out. He’s got a whole #boysquad around him.

Other side of the equation
Could someone remind me of the dates when no one published an op-ed or a letter talking about how the #metoo movement has gotten out of hand? Because as far as I remember it this is how it went:
Harvey Weinstein: okay.
Also, Washington was president at a time when the office of the president was nowhere near as powerful or extensive as it is right now.
“Nail in the coffin” “Hardly any ground to stand on” “forced the hand”
“An investigation might have cleared this up if Gillibrand had not called the dogs.”
You mean, if Franken hadn’t quit. Metaphors can be dangerous things. “Called the dogs,” “hounded out the door,” and “burned someone” are what you are saying because you can’t say she actually did anything—except voice an opinion.
Oh yeah, absolutely. Going after a popular, famous man is a great way to advance your career, as every woman knows and as the press is showing us now. As for the NRA, want to check out Sanders’ record with them? They helped him get elected, sending out letters of support . . . until it was convenient for him to say…
Not a fan of owning up to the fact that your guy resigned? He wasn’t denied anything. He resigned. Your boy went full Palin and quit. The fact that he is no longer in politics is his fault and no one else’s.
What hit me about this? What keeps hitting me about this? Is the moment Gillibrand said Franken should go, I thought, “Oh. She’s not going to be president after all.” Never mind the fact that at least 25 others also called for his resignation. Never mind that she didn’t, couldn’t, force the guy to leave. He resigned.…
Al Franken was not going to a court of law, which is the only place where “due process” is a practical term. Al Franken was also not fired or imprisoned. Al Franken resigned. Al Franken (let’s face it) probably grabbed those women. By pretty much any standard, this is Al Franken’s fault.
Not just buy friends, buy friends who humiliate and abuse them.
God, yes, Gillibrand’s the worst, and she definitely forced Franken out the door, burning him to advance her own career EXCEPT YOU DON’T KNOW SHE DID ANY SUCH THING. She voiced an opinion. How does this keep happening? How do you keep standing up for men who haven’t been thoroughly investigated enough or publicly…
Al Franken was investigated by a Senate Ethics Committee. Keilor was investigated (though he says not thoroughly enough) by MPR. Good try, though. Has it occurred to you that you are doing what you claim to hate, making random accusations of misconduct without actually looking into things?
You mean like the thorough investigations conducted by the New York Times or the Washington Post?
Exactly. I can’t believe we’re getting all this “Oh, gosh, I hate that men are nervous about flirting with women at work,” crap. They should be nervous! The person who takes action should be the person taking the risk. If there is a “victim” it better be the person who, 100 percent voluntarily, decided to initiate a…
There shouldn’t *be* a risk. Or rather, if there is any risk, it should be to the person who makes the come on.
“Due process.” Wow. It’s interesting how people, again and again, demand that women not tell their stories unless they are somehow able to back it up with courtroom-ready-evidence, despite the hiring and firing of men not being determined by a court of law. If I didn’t know better I’d say it’s almost like people want…
Between this and net neutrality it is kind of the Republicans to make it clear to young people who don’t care about women, minorities, immigrants, gay people, or poor people, just how badly they personally will be affected by allowing Republican administrations into office.
People are guilty even if they haven’t been convicted. There is an objective reality before courts get to it. According to a court of law Harvey Weinstein is an innocent man. Conversely, according to a court of law, Tyra Patterson is guilty, despite every one of her “accomplices” and one of her “victims” expressly…
I’m such a curmudgeon that seeing someone get kicked out of a movie theater by an usher for talking or texting would actually be *worth* them talking or texting. It could be part of the show.
