Why weird? Seems right up Gans' alley, and somewhat reminiscent of the Cocteau adaptation. I'm in.

Not a huge Sasha Frere-Jones fan, but he was spot-on about One Direction: "Malik has genuine swagger, and Styles has a shaggy amiability. The other three are of various heights, and that’s about all I can tell you."

She is in a bunch of things, most of which I haven't seen to be honest (to my knowledge, Ruby Sparks was her only lead role), but she is in Kelly Reichardt's Meek's Cutoff, which I liked very much, and she is going to be in the new Joss Wheedon indie, In Your Eyes. I saw her as Masha in the Seagull, and she was

I completely avoided it when it was in theatres, to be honest - the trailers made it look like it was, in fact, a navel-gazing male fantasy, and I missed the fact that the script was penned by Zoe Kazan (whom I'd seen on stage and very much liked). Finally saw it on a flight, and was delighted to be proven wrong.

He is opposite-of-smizing.

It co-stars Alan Arkin, and is quite good; worth seeing, I think. Sondra Locke was in a long relationship with Clint Eastwood, and after they parted ways, he actively and for a very long time sabotaged (and effectively killed off) her career - it's a terribly sad story. On top of that, he had convinced Locke to have

But it's the opposite of the navel-gazing male fantasy...Which you obviously know, but I'm surprised there are people who saw it and missed that point.

There is also a film, which stars Sondra Locke, aka Living Proof That Clint Eastwood is a Giant Douchebag.

Well, yes, there was that. Literally the first movie I'd ever seen that made me tear up from sheer frustration and disappointment.

Familiarity with the books may not be an advantage here. My Colbert-level love of Tolkienverse is what completely ruined the Hobbit for me (though I loved LotR). So, actually, make that (1) familiarity with the book + (2) high expectations, based on LotR, that did the ruining.

He did a Q+A at the screening I went to, and was surprisingly charming, articulate and funny. "Surprisingly," because none of those things usually go with "douchey." Maybe it was a phase that he has outgrown. And, I agree, his performance was fantastic.

I always thought capybaras were very classy-looking.

You are a true hero.

Neckbeard, huh?

That is a thing of pure beauty. Henri, too, but, oh, that Vet video. I am slain.

It depends on the coat dress and on the weather. I've a coat dress that can be worn as a very light coat OR as a dress. The difficulty arises if you want to put an additional layer over the coat dress; that, generally speaking, does not work.

Quite right. The appropriate accompaniment to pineapple on pizza is anchovies.

This reminds me of carlosdhasherpes.com. Still unsure if that was libel or fair warning...
