People laugh, but SF4:Volt on my iPhone has been my go to iPhone game of choice for a LONG while now. The controls take some getting used to, but I'm able to perform at least BnBs with most of the cast.

I'm not the hugest Gundam fan, and like yourself I started with Wing. I loved the gundam designs, but as for the actual show, it was just... too boring? The Gundams were pretty much invincible to anything in the universe. Too many 1v1000 and the gundam aborbs 1000 lazers and the enemies go "No way he'll survive…
