PLEASE, take him to a dermatologist now. I had cystic acne and my parents ignored it.

My nephew is the about same age with the same problem, which probably from hormones, working in a pizza place, and not washing after his shift and then going to play sports. It kills him. He finally came to me, bc I had bad acne. He has no ins., and wouldn't let me pay for a derm visit, so I got him this face wash and

Since you're getting a lot of conflicting advise, I figured I'd pile on. The only thing tetracycline did for me was give me yellow teeth. Nothing really worked until accutane. But, my acne was mostly the cheeks and jawline, while your son's is the forehead and nose, so maybe what didn't work for me will work for him.

Technically, this is caused by a bacteria (P. acnes) that feeds off the oil secretions on the skin causing inflammation in the oil glands. It is a normal biota of the skin but genetics plays a huge part in how bad it affects each individual. A dermatologist is your best resource for knowing the latest and best

Acne is painful, humiliating and damaging to one's sense of self. I had cystic acne. I felt like a freak. The people who treated me worst were my family members. It's funny, because I am quite adored by my family. They all turn to me and admire me. But I will never forget their contempt over my skin. Your son already

Go to a dermatologist and start him on isotretinoin (I think it's roacutane in the US). I waited very long to do it. I used topical solutions and antibiotics for a long time and they only helped a little. Then I got fed up with acne when I was around 20 (got to admit mine wasnt soooo bad, but I was tired of having

Definitely take him to the dermatologist.

Dermatologist.

Careful not to over wash his skin either, since that can cause the skin to freak out and actually produce more oil. A nice natural way to deal with acne (in addition to creams/medicine from an actual doctor) is washing your face with castor oil instead of soap. Rub castor oil on, put a hot damp towel on your face to

It bothers him. I guarantee you. Guy kids don't like to admit that kind of stuff. (Many, anyway.)

My skin has been breaking out this winter (I'm 32) and I decided to get some Burt's Bees acne products...worked wonders. Obviously, a young teen might react differently to them.

Hi there! A dermatologist would be the best option but if you need a good over the counter routine for him I can't recommend Paula's Choice enough! My sister is 16 and was getting the woooorst acne and I bought her all the products in this line and forced her to get into the routine. Her acne has gone away and now she

Quick question for my armchair dermatology session:

Just try to beat it into his head that scarring is bad.

I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but you should have him try the oil cleansing method. In terms of chemistry like cuts like, so the OCM does a wonderful job of cutting through oil and bacteria without totally drying out the skin. I am 31 and have insanely sensitive skin that responds to life by breaking out.

If his hair is long enough to touch his face, have him tie it or clip it up off his forehead at night. I had gross acne as a teen and it helped keep my forehead a lot clearer, at least.

I agree with everyone saying you should call a dermatologist. They're the best! But I have to say, I am sure I will be in your shoes if my daughter ever gets acne. I have a huge compulsion to pick skin (my poor skin has suffered greatly) and I will be twitching all over if she gets it.

Weirdly enough, it also helped me have more motivation to wash my face before bed.

Haha. Well I'm still at the point of reminding my almost two-year-old to pick up his toys...one block at a time. You're telling me it doesn't get any better? I'm shocked! ;)
