@piratejennie:Thanks...that's actually helpful to try to think that way.

@Oleander: Thanks for that, I will definitely look into the book. He and I have spoken about it and he understands where I'm coming from. In terms of his behavior, he prides himself on making the opposite choices from what he experienced. He can tend toward the strict side with his son, but he never gets violent

omg I'm on the other end of this issue. My boyfriend was horribly abused by his stepfather. He has a decent relationship with his mother now, but I have a very hard time being nice to her. (She and the stepfather have long since divorced.) I don't have any idea what could have made her stand by while this man

@Nigglesnoosh: Right on. If I don't have much left, I can still pack a decent bowl and get a nice buzz on. If I try to roll a joint in the same situation, it'll look like I made it to put in my dollhouse.

Two Halloweens ago, I went as Sonny and my bestie was Cher. :-)

@moodyonceamonth: Bah! It's supposed to stop when he gets close and say, "I'm so glad you posted!"

This is my favorite one ever. As far as sarcastic responses go. ;-)

Long ago, like early 90s, I had a boyfriend who loved anal and he was good at it, but he didn't really make me crave it ever. My husband ('98-'09) wasn't that into it, so we only did it like 3 times in our whole marriage.

@denapsu: LOL I'm here, I'm here!

@BrookeD: It was a happy day when my son finally outgrew Dora.

I briefly considered having my daughter, age 6, present at the birth of her brother. Luckily, I came to my senses. It ended up being good, since when he crowned, I screamed the effer as long and as loud as I could.

@DarbyShaw: I did the same. exact. thing!

I see the stories about the kids who are bullied (sometimes to death) for their gender identities or sexual preferences, and I feel so hopeless. And then....something like this. I'm choosing to focus on the fact that the kids have accepted him. That speaks volumes about the direction in which our country will move

@rollergirl76: Sing it, sister. Been there, done that. :-/
