In my opinion, this is very good Kinja.

One of my guilty pleasures of the car world is a massive luxury coupe. They get bonus points for being in something other than your typical subdued colors. An older gentleman near me has a Lincoln Mark V in beautiful shape. The kicker for me is the sky blue paint and spotless white interior. It's like he's floating

Nothing you said makes sense. “Three on the tree” IS a manual transmission, but it’s mounted on the steering column, so it doesn’t even apply to your comment. Then you blame fake manuals on people who want a real manual? Then you apparently think people want manuals because they think they can shift “better” than an

It’s the other way around. It’s the people who can’t drive a manual but want to look like they can who want these silly joystick transmissions. And no one believes they can shift “better” than a modern auto, but we know it's more fun to do it ourselves.

Dealers HATE cash deals since they can’t add in a bunch of stuff into the financing deal. Those additions are what makes a dealership money.

depending on the dealer internet price is usually pretty damn close to as low as they are willing to go. Especially on used cars. Cash does nothing nowadays. Whatever you do don’t sign up for any extra warranty plans or crap like that (unless they are provided by manufacturer).

Yeah, cash deals cut out a few clipping points from the dealer in the F&I Dept. Interest, added insurances, extended warranties, etc, so the purchase price would most likely be higher. Dealerships make as much if not more in some cases in the F&I Dept.

Yeah cash doesn’t get you an extra discount. In fact the dealer might not be willing to go as deep as you would if you financed.

It’s funny but paying in cash can actually be worse as far as negotiating a deal. Especially when the place you are buying has incentives to get people into car loans.

Your best bet is to take out a car loan and repay it quickly to minimize interest paid.

That. Is. BEAUTIFUL! You and your father are a testament to good humankind.

This was our version in Europe, only without the touchscreen. Or the V6. Or luxury. Or, erm, steel.

so it’s a Volvo 480 “Coupe”, but without the coolness? :)

I think cars are just going back to their roots.

BMW nomenclature in summary:

This made me laugh, for the simple reason that my office is just down the street from where the Waldorf Astoria Bev Hills is being built, and of course, one of the photos on the barriers is of a couple overlooking the beach in a 356. The first time I saw it, I thought, "Are you NUTS?!?! you can't have a car like that
