Late to the show, but I’d say a Mk1 Ford Ka is even slower, but even better to drive fast than a Fiesta.

I agree, Volvo seats are generally great. I’ve only sat in the back a couple of times, but I was immediately conscious of the hard section in the base. Mine’s a 2009, so maybe they’ve improved the design since then...
My XC60 has the built-in booster seats, and although the theory is great, the reality is there’s a hard section just below the surface of the seat base, which makes them uncomfortable to use in the ‘down’ position. They’re also not particularly comfortable in the ‘up’ position (according to my daughter).
A friend of a friend bought one from new, and parked it with the engine running outside my house while we all just stared at it. I got to sit in it, but that’s all. Still a memorable moment though.
Team garages in the pit lane are in order of previous championship position, so the risk of an unsafe release might have ended up being a factor too. Mercedes are furthest from the pit entrance, so he could easily have ended up at the back anyway.
Being from the UK, I’m not all that familiar with the drag racing scene, but as soon as I read the words ‘Englishtown NJ’, my thoughts immediately went to Yanna Trance and Big Stick, one of my favourite 90's bands, who were REALLY into it. Englishtown is referenced in at least one of their tracks, maybe more. Wonder…
Absolutely this. And yes, they’re great to drive.
Love seeing the mundane stuff thrown in there...Bluetooth connectivity, Front Seatbelt Pre-Tensioners. For that money, you kind of wish they could have developed a bespoke wireless connectivity protocol that runs on angel tears and nuclear fission.
I didn’t realise you couldn’t get a new Juke in the US anymore. We got the new model in the UK, which retained a fair amount of styling cues from the original. Sure they’re a marmite car, but like the OP, I admire them for at least trying something different.
Toyota Landcruiser is virtually non-existent in the UK.
I took a wrong turning on the way to catch a Ferry to an island off the West coast of Scotland in my Brabus Roadster.
You either love 3 spoke alloys or you don’t, but hey, at least Smart didn’t have this issue...
I’m 1974 too, and I’m OK with that:
Naw, they’re Light Emitting Diodes, like these
Katie,
There’s a Lane Road in Colchester, UK.
It’s not quite my ultimate dream car, but there is a space reserved for one in my architect designed, multicar dream garage . Or rather, there would be if it were a 456GTA in Blu Pozzi with Cuoio interior.
This reminds me of a project of my Grandad’s, which comprised of a VW Transporter T3 with the roof of a Mk2 Polo grafted on top. For some unfathomable reason, he decided that old kitchen worktops would be the ideal material to replace the glass in the Polo windows, which turned out not to be the case. Water ingress…
Just to back up Tom’s argument about the RS6 being too fast, a friend of mine cancelled his pre-order for the previous gen as soon as the dealer got a demonstrator in to test drive. He’d owned some pretty quick cars in the past (including a couple of 911s), but knew immediately that he’d lose his licence in the RS6.
Agreed. Pale Saints were another band that missed out on the career they should have had through that pigeonholing. Their first two albums are both great, and have stood the test of time remarkably well.
