Great article.
My heart goes out to this brilliant young man, whose “I FLIPPED ALL OF THESE!!” was the purest embodiment of everything bottle flipping could be.
The world (well, me) is crying out for an updated version of the Smart Roadster...
I’m not sure if it’s optimism, or just blatant attempts at indoctrination into the Cult of Musk, but that forum is really something.
As the owner of several Smart Roadsters (including a yellow one), this should be very much my cup of tea, but at that price? Not a chance.
I’d agree that Red Bull made mistakes, but Max was 100% to blame for not coming third. That’s where the car should have been. The truth is, it was Max’s own actions that meant he was lucky to end up fifth.
I don’t think Musk cares. Quite the opposite, in fact. I think he agrees, insomuch as too many EVs are being built overseas for his liking.
Thanks to what was presumably a monumental fuckup at Renault UK around expected future values of the Renault Zoe back in 2013/2014, I was paying more per month for my phone than I was for my car on a 2 year PCP deal with a pretty small deposit. By the time the 2 years were over, someone must have realised they were los…
Friend of mine used to work with him during the glory days at Renault F1 in Enstone. He banned the comsumption of bacon sandwiches within the entire factory because he didn’t like the smell in his office.
Strike while the iron’s hot.
I definitely felt like I’d hit peak Dad levels when I bought a Skoda Roomster Scout. Mine didn’t come with the optional hot air baloon though...
counterpoint: Guy Martin :-)
Highly recommend the documentary TT: Closer to The Edge to anyone who hasn’t seen it. Not sure how well known he is in the US, but Guy Martin became a minor celebrity in the UK following his appearance in it, and is entertainingly batshit all the way through.
Indeed. With Kid Rock himself being in contention as one of the worst ideas.
By no means does my photo do it justice (there are far better ones online), but feeling compelled to pull over during a holiday in Scotland to take in the view, only later to find out that the area is called ‘Rest and Be Thankful’. Perfect.
Peter Sellers did it best
My dad wasn’t a great car enthusiast, but he’d always talked of one day owning a Jag. He’d always had company cars, but could never afford the additional taxes it would have cost him to upgrade, so it always remained a dream. Towards the end of his working life though, he took the plunge and ordered the newly released …
I’d say you can buy it in most supermarkets, although I don’t know anyone who does. It’d be fairly unusual sight in a respected drinking establishment though.
I think the story might have just morphed slightly. Budweiser has never been that popular in the UK, and when I read about it at the time, it was a Coke can. Your argument still stands though.
