Not every game needs to be a lifestyle that you can live off of.  WOTC has been abundantly clear for years that they’re happy to promote the pro tour but it’s not ride or die for them in the grand scheme of MTG.

My quibble with this, and the other article I’ve read about this particular criticism of the game, is that—well. Historically (fictionally), this is a world where good guy cops are in the majority, and not the minority.

Police are an unimpeachable group in Spider-Man. They show no real flaws and make no mistakes.

FYI, that’s exactly how it’s handled in Spider-Man. Spider-Man specifically says “I better get out of here before the cops arrive” after most of the crimes he stops. And hey, guess what! If you stick around, some will even shoot at you or say they’re taking you in.

My solution to reconciling all of this was to just treat it as another fantastical element of the setting. If I can buy that a guy can run on walls then I guess I can buy a world where the police deserve the level of trust the game gives them.
