Seriously, though, how long did Fox and the GOP think they could cater to the absolute worst in their party (racism, xenophobia, misogyny, anti-intellectualism, religious zealotry) and not have it take on a life of it’s own. Karma is a bitch.

If Fox news is Dr. Frankenstein, how soon until Trump murders a child?

Yeah, I was definitely just pointing that out, not that I suffer any for it at all. I just always find it odd. Like I get being interested in your own genealogical background, but I know so many people who are obsessed with not only their own family history but the background of people around them. It’s weird, and

Given the prevalence of rape culture in college athletics, or sports in general, this is pretty much akin to putting the foxes in charge of the henhouse. Being a successful athlete requires aggression, frequently a lot of it. Excess of aggression is exactly what leads to sexual assault and rape.

^THIS—and there’s slso the fact that LOTS of folks with Irish heritage are proud of that heritage now. We were able to completely overcome anything that happened to any of our ancestors.... which was possible, because we were white—end of story. We didn’t have systemic barriers to our freedoms.

As a historian and an Irishman, I thoroughly approve of this. I mean, yes, there are some famously awful things that the Irish people have gone through over the years (the aforementioned research from the article, Oliver Cromwell, the Irish Famine, etc.), but the important thing to remember is that the Irish were

I completely agree, because if the person really assualted someone, then kicking them out isn’t close to enough.

Its an administrative hearing that gets someone kicked out of school and has huge ramifications on someone’s life. Its basically a civil proceeding. If you are going to accuse someone of a felony act, which is what is occuring here, then there has to be far more transparency on how you determine if the person was

And that they do hold their players responsible when suspended for other types of infractions. Got bad grades? You let your teammates down. Got caught drinking? You let your teammates down. Sexually assaulted a PERSON? Well.

Yup. I fully agree with that and would definitely support schools instituting that.

The underlying problem is private universities have a “justice” system that keeps everything quiet so that there are not articles. They often ban those charged from having basic representation. They represent a world that is much closer to a North Korean or Chinese court than anything resembling the US. The fact that

I agree.

Yes, because those two things are equally depressing and directly comparable.

Yeah, I find the whole premise behind the Title IX “trial” system to be odd. The FBI classifies rape as the second ‘most violent’ crime behind murder/attempted murder. That’s a big deal. I’m sort of shocked that we even have the option to not go to trial when a complaint is raised. An actual court of law, one hopes,

Obligatory #thanksobama.

Trump is just the megaphone for a lot of putrid racists who’s only affirmation before was FOX news and the YouTube comments section.

true, but what you’re saying is that emotional reactions to trauma may not be logical or make sense to those who havent been traumatized. The response brief should bring this up and the science on the post-trauma behavior of victims should be brought into evidence to help litigate this.

But I’m not going to blame

Lacking any other evidence outside of he said/she said, it absolutely is, whether you care to believe it is or not.

Is this what it was like to watch Hitler rise? People: “Hey, life isn’t as awesome as we thought it would be” Powers that be: (fixing this would cut into our profits...) “hey, look, Jews did this to you, get ‘em” People: “k, sure! And you’ll pay me for it? Best day ever!"

Good point. I had been conflicted about this but that’s a great point. Also potential witnesses who were interviewed are protected, as they always face backlash too.
