Personally, I would only share your truck’s name in private....
If your wife said that, you wouldn’t have to worry about beating Doug...ever...
CX-9 is awesome. I’ve had multiple customers research the CX-9 against crossovers as disparate as the MDX, QX60, F-Pace (!), Q7, XC90, etc. All of them say the refinement of the powertrain, the fit and finish and quality of materials on the interior, and the overall design aesthetic are at or above those of the other…
There is no turbo lag. It’s smooth and powerful right off idle, as a well-tuned turbo should be.
Also the negative reviews of transmission reliability threw me off
There was a huge delay when I stepped on it with little acceleration at first then after what seemed like 2-3 secs it took off. I think it was 2014 or 13. I dunno, it was used so maybe that was something?
Mazdaspeed ALL THE THINGS.
2014 Edge = 4055-4460 lbs, 285-305 hp, 253-280 lbft
Man, I tried a little bit of everything: re-circ, no re-circ, rear vents on, rear vents off, sunshades, pulling over, lying down, sticking my face in the refrigerator and weeping quietly to myself.
A brand-new vehicle design yet still no CarPlay/Android Auto? Major fail here, Mazda. :(
Mazda’s turbochargers historically seemed to have more issues than they’re worth for a commuter, but their naturally-aspirated engines and transmissions are pretty solid.
Maybe there was a code brown segment that was cut by the editorial staff.
In a vehicle like this, the torque is actually way more useful. As a TDIneedanewcar owner, I can tell you that that amount of twist will be way more useful in everyday moments like highway merging, overtaking and irresponsible gringasms in corners.
Want to keep getting Miatas, enthusiast-oriented Mazdaspeed cars or perhaps a new rotary-powered coupe? Or better yet, you hope that Mazda sees the light and figures out a way to shoehorn the CX-9's engine into a Miata? You better hope Mazda’s more pedestrian, mass-market offerings sell well, then.
I believe the figures are 225 on regular and 250 on premium gas. Having said that, Mazda studied the market and figured out that most people who buy big crossovers rarely get into the upper rev range so the tuned the engine for maximum low end torque.
