Totally agree on the Bay-Snyder contrast. I will add that what is so frustrating about Snyder’s films is he gets so much right that it gets overshadowed by how much he gets completely wrong.

For some reason I read this as “The Slit’s” version and now I’m disappointed. The song only leads to evil.

I only clicked through the list to see where it would place. They mention it, but then, like, forgot to add to the top of the shitty tree?

I forget, the past tense of to Kang is “Kanged” or “Kung”?

Yeah but also if Jim Morrison was 80, he’d be dead.

Have to give AV Club credit for including Eddie Coyle, it’s such an unsentimental gem. I read some of the dialogue was taken directly from the book, which was adapted directly from wire taps.

I just discovered it last month, it’s pretty fun. Bummer it got lost in the shuffle.

There have been Dr Doom casting rumors so maybe he’ll be on board by the time they get to Secret Wars, especially with all of the Fantastic Four casting announcements. Kang has been fine but I really haven’t found Jonathan Majors all that compelling in the role (definitely shit the bed as Victor Timely).

Matt was so awkward his first season, but seemed to hit his stride as he went. But he was never a great fit.

I think the point is Ang Lee’s HULK movie was considered overly-serious and hiring Louis The Transporter Letterier as director was a direct reaction to that. Marvel wanted a do-over and make a more actiony Hulk movie, just 5 years after we got Oedipus Hulk. Norton was making the right argument at the wrong time.

The Incredible Hulk is pretty ok if a bit bland. The big problem is the digital Hulk still looked bad. But point taken, most MCU movies are pretty ok. There are maybe 5 that are really good. That’s not a diss, they’re mostly ok.

So basically, how can we dunk on recent Marvel movies today?

Glad to hear he produced some more content!

Never really understood that, I always thought it was clickbait by people who never read them - like the Harry Potter vs. Tokein or Star Wars vs Star Trek. Like, people probably like both and if they don’t, they probably don’t hate the other. I grew up reading comics and liked both DC and Marvel, so I prefer when

5 years ago everyone was all “what an amazing thing Marvel has built” to 3 years ago when it was “oh wow even Marvel’s TV shows are amazing”. Now everyone is in a hurry to stick a fork in them just because a few recent projects have been just average. Even this article claiming “the canon timeline is a mess” is not

it was a staple of DC Comics for decades, and I think it’s okay as a storytelling tool if you don’t overuse it (which the Arrowverse definitely did)

Oh man, it’s been 20 years since I’ve seen either of them, but that totally tracks. What I remember most is watching Vanilla Sky and hating it, and then watching Abre Los Ojos and enjoying it, even though the basic plot remained pretty much the same as the remake that I hated. It’s a great example of how small

I’ve spent time in Youngstown OH, which once upon a time was a bigger industry town than Pittsburgh. Today you can drive past abandoned boarded-up mansions and Victorian homes.
