Michael Shannon’s Zod is certainly entertaining, but going straight back to Zod after he was prominently featured in previous Superman movies was a red flag that Man of Steel would be bereft of new ideas. It turned out to be a hollow anti-Superman movie.

I recall he tested for The Batman as well. Seems like he’s just on the “young, tall, dark hair” list for these casting calls. Lex I could see.  I never really thought he was right as Hank McCoy in X-Men, but I think he was an 11th hour substitution.

I’ve read about it (and actually guessed it as joke). Not that they can’t walk anything back, but I think it was purposeful to end on a gag and not one featuring Snyder characters. It’s run its course, blighted the cinematic IP, and there are new toys to sell!

For sure, I think it’s clear WB has had no intention of producing a sequel to The Flash at least since all of the Miller shit hit the fan, maybe even before. Giving Muschietti the keys to a future Batman movie is pretty good evidence they’re throwing him a bone for the shitstorm this movie became.
