Spot on. I was thinking the same thing as I read those tone deaf comments. Comedians are taken to task by the audience every time they get on stage after ever single joke. They get a laugh or not, and a bad joke doesn’t deserve an immediate public flogging, because nothing actually deserves that.

I saw Man of Steel at a theatre across the street from the World Trade Center in NYC. So not only was the destruction of Metropolis super bothersome (sealed with a kiss!), what bothered me even more was friendly ally Dr Emil Hamilton falls into a black hole with evil Kryptonians and it’s never mentioned or addressed.

I thought Cavill had potential as Superman, but they forgot to write him a personality beyond “conflicted and much punched”. It’s not like there isn’t another guy out there perfectly capable of playing the character, maybe in a way that isn’t a blatant Christ metaphor for like the zillionth time. Let’s clear the board.

I think he was just tired of shouting “crown of sabbac”.

Black Adam would have been a hit for WB had it not been banned in Kahndaq!

I mean, the set up is there - he says “Shazam” and there’s the Shazam wizard. That used to be more than enough foreshadowing but now we need to tell Legolas to go find the next movie characters for us. I get Rock’s ego (and wallet) want Superman, but it would be nice to see Shazam fight Black Adam in a 3rd movie.

It was mostly ok, nothing new, just different faces. Fate and Hawkman were the highlights, I wish they’d have just made a Justice Society movie. But The Rock managed to single-handedly will a movie headlining a D-list Villain. I went into the movie wondering which immortal Egyptian hero would die, and I was right, but

I love HBO Max. It’s probably my favorite streamer, the amount of content is pretty stellar. I love animation, comics, and old movies, so the CN, DC, and TCM catalogue are wonderful (actualy HBO content is pretty nifty too). That’s why it’s such a bummer the streamer is get shaved down for an increase in price.

A mopey kid from Kansas. And they did try to get Nolan, but he’s not into making superhero movies for the rest of his life.

Ok, he had a range of mopeyness, which when wrapped up in a Christ complex, is far from nuance. There was nothing new about it either, Richard Donner’s Clark from Kansas spends a good portion of the middle of the film questioning his place in society (as did Superman Returns). It’s not new. But Donner’s Clark grew

It’s kind of ironic that Superman was turned into a Christ metaphor (by Mario Puzo, for what it’s worth) considering he was conceived by Jewish immigrants as such. That was an interesting angle in 1978 (wasn’t every cinema protagonist a Christ metaphor in the 60s and 70s?), but enough torturing the character already.

Superman is interesting when he’s allowed to be a fun, confident three-dimensional person and not a mopey chew toy to be repeatedly killed and turned evil. I think filmmakers need to realize the Superman as Christ metaphor well is dry. They forget he’s just a kid from Kansas.

Deadline is reporting that Jenkins’ treatment for the 3rd Wonder Woman movie is even worse than WW84.

That’s kind of how I interpreted it, especially since Gadot reportedly referenced her return to the character (not that it’s up to her). Could go either way, but this makes better headlines.

I wanted more of Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah!

Well, he’s coming back in The Flash, so maybe it’s also an effort to make Batman’s, uh, return more exclusive since WB has so many eggs in that basket.

Yeah, not every instance of “trauma” has to be relative to the most extreme example of it. Regardless, there’s a difference between literal and figurative uses, and English not being their first or second language, I’d cut these guys some serious slack.

No idea why the author bizarrely assumes it was “Prime Video’s decision”. Nothing Mawle stated indicates that. These shows are massive productions that ask for months of actors time on the other side of the world, sometimes it doesn’t line up with other commitments. I agree he was one of the highlights of the series,

George Harrison was the Paul McCartney of The Traveling Wilburies. He was finally the “cute” one.

Last season was still fun, but it did feel like the characters aren’t really progressing. I mean, isn’t it past time for Rita and Larry to have a handle on their powers? Is Cliff just going to keep being RoboJack Horseman? Guerrero is always amazing.
