I was not super excited for a Captain America movie, but Marvel Studios made Steve Rodgers’s honest goodness fun to be around. Why? Because he wasn’t naive, but he was confident. The story wrestling with who he is and the power he has is an interesting narrative — for Superboy.

Now playing

The Terence Malik-inspired Man of Steel teaser had so much promise, especially with that inspirational Jor-El voice over (and an assist from Lord of the Rings soundtrack). Still waiting for that “accomplish wonders” part.

That Snyder didn’t really seem to understand Watchmen (even if he did visually replicated it) should have been a red flag.

What bugs me the most about Man of Steel is, if given the super abilities to help people, what psychopath wouldn’t? What is there to grapple with? I appreciate the stories of a teenage Clark coming to grips with his identity, but the idea that a 20-something mopey Clark being so confused that he disappears into the

yeah but shit gets clicks, dude!

The complete opposite of even the bright and shiny Wonder Woman 1984

Or you could just watch those movies, there’s a lot of humor sprinkled through out the Dark Knight trilogy as a palette cleanser for its darker, more serious moments. It’s hardly the constant gloom its imitators would have you think.

After years of trying to shake the idea that their characters were antiquated throwbacks (see the 1990s-2000s), DC Comics finally began to embrace the fun aspects of its Silver Age stories (Batman Brave and the Bold, New Frontier, CW’s The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, etc). What’s surprising about Zack Snyder’s

RELEASE THE DEE SNIDER CUT!

This movie is sure to cause a panda-monium

You say that now, but just wait until Snyder fans violently storm WB offices on March 23.

DC has been trying to ditch the campy label since the 1960s, that they started over compensating too far the other direction (the same torch Zack Snyder is carrying on). Hey, what if Hal Jordan turned evil and destroyed galaxies? Remember Blue Beetle from those fun JLI comics? Well, he’s been shot through the head.

We’ve seen 3 pretty solid live action Deathstrokes, and Esai Morales was looking like the best one. And then that season 2 finale and it’s like, that’s it? Uh, ok.

I read that earlier. I get backing your heroes up against the wall, but not putting them up for slaughter. If all you can think to do with Superman is repeatedly kill him or turn him evil, you probably shouldn’t be making a Superman movie.

Well, he treated Superman as a thing to repeatedly kill the shit out of.

From what I read, the 2nd (or maybe 3rd?) JL movie took place after a Batman (and Flash) solo films. Luthor assembles the villains from those solo films (Dr Poison, Capt Cold, The Riddler) to create a Legion of Doom-type team.

That comment made me wonder if AV Club understands how “acting” works.

Fortress at least needs a couch and an Animal House poster.
