MS Office Starter Edition came with my new PC. It's a free ad-based version of Word and Excel. I think it only comes with Windows 7.

I tried to write a post defending Apple's position on this issue, but I ended up defeating my own argument and then hating myself.
@my favorite car is a motorcycle: Wow, great post. However, I'm not sure I agree with national or state government creating or providing internet access to anyone, poor or not. I think you're assuming they have no internet access at all. I have family in "poor and rural" Mexico, and even they have an ISDN connection.
@zekestone: It's not complicated. But it can be intimidating since it's not a typical dining experience.
Excellent summary. Especially the bring cash advice.
I like unboxing videos. Before I buy something used, I check to see what accessories should come with the item, and ask for a discount if some things are missing.
@Secretone: The game was called "StoneLoops!" The Luxor people thought it was too similar and Apple pulled it, even though there are several gem shooter games StoneLoops was the only victim.
@JstSqzd: I bought a game, that was later pulled from the App Store. It still works fine, and is still in my iTunes library. I can no longer re-download it, but I just backup the IPA file in case my computer crashes.
I just bought an iBuyPower system. They did awesome. It took a little longer than if you order from Dell or HP, but it's so much nicer to hand pick all your own parts. The cost is pretty much equal to the cost of the parts.
Great list. The only thing I would add is financial app Mint. Low balance and large purchase alerts for all my accounts in one place!
I can't see a close up anything without thinking about how absurd CSI and other tv shows enhance images to find reflections of criminals.
I agree that all paid apps should have a trial mode, I wouldn't necessarily use a 24 hour timer for everything. That should be left up to the developer. As a consumer I would love to try a few different apps.
@PsychoSuperman: I was on the edge of my seat, holding the laughs in until I finished reading!
@coffinmouth: I was having a problem where it would get stuck in backup mode and wouldn't install OS4, but here's how I got it to install.
@monsterblues: Huh, the double hard reset actually helped. As described on CultofMac.com, my phone even booted by itself after the first hard reset, then I had to manually press the power button to boot it the second time.
@A Ferret: I have several friends in iPhone game development. I sometimes do some art for them, and help them test their projects.
I disabled all Spotlight items. Then rebooted my iPhone 3G. Then I compared my speed to the YouTube video above. My iPhone is actually slower than that one. :(
When I was upgrading RAM recently I saved myself some money by checking the fastest speeds my processor supported. I was going to buy 16GB of DDR3 1600, but found out the fastest supported by my processor was DDR3 1333. No need for 1600, since I don't overclock. I saved about $150 at NewEgg.
@verziehenone: That only gives you 30 battery lives, not unlimited.
@pleasenopuffin: Ha, I read that completely backwards. I read it as, remove OS4 so it would be faster, not add OS4 for it to be slower.
