You wrote a lot without addressing why IT Crowd is held to a different standard. I get that Community does it differently from BBT, but IT Crowd is the same kind of humor as BBT. The first episode shows Roy being beat by a woman in high heels due to his horrible personal skills, with Moss telling Jenn that such

I have to figure that maybe there are lots of readers who just masochistically eat that shit up. Like nothing’s happening, but that means the series isn’t going anywhere, assuming, of course, that the author doesn’t die. (And in that case, he can be replaced.)

I stopped reading The Wheel of Time after I realized I was reading multiple books hundreds of pages long yet virtually nothing was happening.

The weird thing is that IT Crowd made fun of geeks as well and yet seems to be pretty well received by geeks.

I agree that Ben is one of the best depictions of nerds on TV. My favorite scene with him was when he got all geeked out over playing Settlers of Cataan with his friends, but was perfectly willing to spend the rest of the night doing stuff that the rest of the group wanted to do.

Sheldon has gained more depth as the series progressed. He lives with his girlfriend and many of his quirks have been explanation such as his knocking three times on every door. His relationship with Penny is one of the better explorations of friendship I’ve seen on television.

I also enjoy BBT and would probably call myself a nerd. I also never understood the hate. Are the characters over the top? Welcome to television.

I still don’t get the hate for the Big Bang Theory. I am what most would call nerdy (I build my own computers, play video games, work in the industry, etc.). I’ve watched the show from the beginning and still find it funny. If people’s conclusion is that all nerds are like what they see there, that seems to be more of

But that’s alternatively what makes the world intriguing. The modern idea of justice and revenge is turned on its head in this show, where things are positively medieval and you get a sense of how horrible it must have been to live in an age where these sorts of morals and ethics were the norm and expected.

She’ll always have a special place in my heart because of Pushing Daisies.

Thank you. Yeah, wasn’t aware there was so much disdain for her, she was friggin fantastic in “Pushing Daisies”.

You wish what? :P

She immediately makes a cool impression!

If you finished it in a vacuum it probably wasn’t that egregious. I certainly didn’t think so; given that I was high on the adrenaline of the last few sequences. I feel as if everyone’s opinions are colored and enhanced by the echo chamber hate that was going on about it.

I don’t get why so many people got butthurt over the ending in ME3. But then - I didn’t finish it until 8 or 9 months AFTER that controversy when Bioware tweaked the ending a bit. I found it a satisfying conclusion to the entire series...

Never thought I’d say this but less Natalie Portman, more Kat Dennings.

GofG2 is only getting better.

You seem to have copied and pasted the wrong GIF. Let me fix that for you:

Oh good. I was really wondering what was going on with the next Smurfs movie.

I honestly can’t remember the last time io9 went on a multi-piece point by point takedown of someone trying to defend their creation. Maybe the Snyder Batman v Superman hate train? Particularly for something that hasn’t even been released to the public yet. Also, what’s up with “io9 staff” writing this?
