I don’t think they have to market this to anyone. It was commissioned by someone with bottomless pockets, and more of those people make up the balance of their waiting list.

They are like Honda Civics in Denver. I have three.
I was young and stupid i.e. I had 18" wheels and summer Z rated tires on my Subaru Legacy. I went skiing on Mount Hood in Oregon. Driving down at the end of the day the road was a total sheet of ice with bumper to bumper traffic. I went to break and my tires didn’t even attempt to slow me down. I hit the car in front…
Ugh. Getting a Leaf has been a secret obsession. My work commute is only 15 miles and most days I ride my bike so I don’t need much of a car. I keep saying “why not buy a cheap ass Leaf?”. How do you like it so far overall? How’d you get it so cheap? What is the real world range like on a used one like yours? I may…
You’re right. No argument there. But also I’m sure the craftspeople at Ferrari are glad to have jobs in times like this.
All I know is that I rode in a Model X one time and the owner pinned it on a freeway onramp in non-ludicrous mode which was enough to scare me so bad that I panicked and asked him to slow down. I can’t imagine faster nor do I care to experience it. I know that makes me a bad Jalop but I’m willing to own my lameness.
Just wanted to stop and vote “I like it”
I, uhhh, actually the white E30 went to a new home so that I could afford to import an even better (Evo 2) one from the UK a couple years after I wrote that original post. The thinking is pretty simple: The more rare and unique one is always better to have. Could not swing an Evo 3! My daily driver is my bike for 95%…
I lust after this car.
Alt scenario: A lot of young people buy some pretty mind boggling “first cars” that cost 30-60k. They finance them, etc. No judgement it’s their life but it doesn’t leave bandwidth in their finances for a second passion car. My approach is that my daily drivers are pretty not that great (80 series and 60 series…
Thanks! I’m in no danger of ever being a Sultan or Cameron’s dad. This is as close to the sun as I fly.
It’s only truly speculation if you don’t drive it. If you drive it it can lose value and you still win. ;)
I posted this to Kinja in 2013. I agree this price is insane but you can’t say we didn’t see this coming. And since I’m a blue collar guy this gives me hope that maybe I can afford to send my kids to college some day if I do sell mine:
Well that’s the first modern SL I’ve ever lusted after.
I love this wagon but let’s not pretend it’s worth 12k.
Not going to lie I want to hate this for being so mainstream-cool but really I just want it. Also feel that way about 4 Runners (in any trim), Raptors, and even that Jeep truck thing that isn’t really cool but I want anyway. If Karen was a dude, it me.
I starred the original commend and your response because both gave me feelz.
I think I would just respond “Actually it shares the steering wheel, switch gear, and gauge cluster with the Carrera RS.”
Insert all-knowing comment about wedge designs here then pat yourself on the back for saying “wedge design”
Can confirm a far higher number of groups of WRXs, modified Civics, Mitsubishis, et. al. prowling on the streets of Denver. At first it seemed strange. Now it makes sense.
