It’s very simple: the game should have a pause feature because it’s a standard game feature people want and there’s no reason not to have it, since this work-around already shows that it doesn’t break the game as it exists in literally any way.

I’m sure I could walk 20km to the beach too, but public transport is a plainly better option. The fact imperfect alternatives exist is not a justification to exclude an objectively better one.
